At the heart of the Resort - right between the two beaches - await three swimming pools immersed in lush landscaping and surrounded by spacious pool decks with abundant chaises longues. Internet availablity on the pool deck is commiserate with your in-room access.
Location
Four Seasons is positioned on Costa Rica's northwest Pacific coast within the province of Guanacaste. Though it's the country's second-largest province by area, Guanacaste is the least populated, offering a calm, peaceful ambience. The pampas - or prairie - landscape is an unusual mix of grassy savannahs, immense cattle ranches and tropical dry forest, backed by volcanic mountain ranges.
Guanacaste also offers some of the country's best beaches - with shores stretching about 160 kilometres (99 miles) from the border with Nicaragua to the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula.
Four Seasons is located on exclusive Peninsula Papagayo, a master-planned resort community encompassing 930 hectares (2,300 acres). This secluded natural sanctuary provides abundant opportunities to experience eco-adventure on land and in the water.
Please note that all visitors to Costa Rica must possess a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Costa Rica has stringent customs guidelines for packages shipped into the country. Guests are encouraged to travel with all luggage, including personal belongings and golf clubs.
Activities
On land
GolfDesigned by Arnold Palmer, this 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course in Costa Rica was designed with the resort golfer in mind and is ranked among the "Top 100 Courses Outside the United States" by Golf Digest.
Hiking
Providing a convenient opportunity to witness nature in the Costa Rican forest, the Resort offers its own hiking trail. The route extends approximately 1 kilometres (0.6 miles) from the beach on one side of the Peninsula up the hillside and down to the beach on the other side. The stairs and pathways are well-maintained and prove an exerting challenge for hikers.
Tennis
For tennis enthusiasts, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica offers four courts with the clay-like Har-Tru surface, as well as the new real grass tennis court, the first at any Four Seasons location worldwide. Located at our Golf Club, the tennis program is managed by world-renowned Peter Burwash International. Private lessons, clinics and player match-ups are available, as well as tennis equipment and accessories.
Trail of Giants
This guided tour through the tropical dry forest surrounding the golf course is certified by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The forest is home to endangered birds, monkeys, iguanas, butterflies - and over 25 species of giant tree. Learn about the exotic flora and fauna of Costa Rica while enjoying the lush forests and awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
The two-level fitness centre
With 202 square metres (2,178 square feet) of state-of-the-art fitness facilities - adds inspiration with beach views through trees and greenery. Workouts can incorporate a range of cardio machines, equipped with TVs and iPod docking stations. Options include exercise bicycles, elliptical crosstrainers and treadmills. Also available are resistance-training machines and classes in aerobics, yoga and mat Pilates. Personal trainers are on hand for guidance and motivation. Afterwards, luxurious locker rooms help guests (16 years of age and older) relax with discreet outdoor hot and cold plunge pools and infrared saunas.
On the water
World-Class Sport FishingAnglers love Guanacaste's rich waters. Known as the 'Jurassic Park' of sport fishing, this area is teeming with marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, grouper, roosterfish, amberjack, mackerel and exceptionally large tuna.
Flat-Bottom Boat Tour of Palo Verde National Park
A flat-bottomed boat tour is the perfect way to take in the park's wildlife and more than 300 types of birds, which - along with an ecosystem of rivers, marshes, mangroves and a dry forest - attracts scientists from around the world.
A Sunset Catamaran Tour of the Gulf of Papagayo
A sunset catamaran cruise provides a relaxing way to explore the Gulf of Papagayo. On a luxury 14-metre (47-foot) catamaran - boarded right at the Resort's beach - set out on a cruising adventure to see ocean wildlife and jungle shoreline. Snorkelling tours are available.
Kayaking

Paddle Boarding
Experience Costa Rica's waterfront and glide along tranquil waters that surround our Peninsula. Paddle Boarding offers guests a versatile workout combined with natural vistas of our bio-diverse waterscapes. We also offer Moonlit SUP Guided Tours on select evenings for those looking to enjoy the landscape from the water at dusk.
Surfing with Tropic Surf
We are the closest resort to the renowned waves of Witches Rock and Ollies Point. Surfers and SUP-ers of all abilities enjoy access to a broad variety of Surfaris and Tropicsurf coaching with our luxury surf school which lies on our very own Playa Blanca.
Snorkelling

Children
The Kids For All Seasons program at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo offers exciting adventures in a natural location for children and young adults aged 4 to 12 years. The program includes indoor and outdoor activities conducted by professionally qualified staff.At this unique destination, children are immersed in the culture of Costa Rica and learn about their surrounding environment. Upon arrival, they are presented with a welcome amenity and an invitation to join Tiquito, the Papagayo mascot, at the Children's Centre. The program offers a weekly schedule of events, featuring activities and arts and crafts using local materials.
Supervised explorations take children in search of local insects, reptiles and plants. Other planned activities include a hermit crab hunt, treasure collecting on the beach, sand castle building, birdwatching and soccer. After a long day, kids can relax by their own private pool, or enjoy nightly storytime from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
For indoor fun, a wide selection of movies, games and puzzles is available. The centre also provides a recreation room complete with a ping pong table, computers with high-speed Internet access and an entertainment system.
Babysitting services are subject to availability. Reservations must be cancelled 24 hours in advance or a cancellation fee will apply.
