Los Angeles is a trend-setting global metropolis with a fascinating history and a rich cultural heritage. LA's cultural attractions are second to none, whether it's the Space Shuttle Endeavour, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Getty Center or art galleries and urban art. From Transformers: The Ride-3D to legendary studios, thriving nightlife and renowned theatre productions, LA is truly the entertainment capital of the world. LA dining is acclaimed for Michelin-starred restaurants and multicultural neighborhoods alike. Sports fans know that LA is the city of champions, while active Angelenos can explore 75 miles of coastline and hundreds of miles of bike and hiking trails. Shop for everything from couture to vintage, or relax in one of LA's world class spas.

On the land
Golf
Los Angeles bathes in sunshine nearly 300 days per year. Cold fronts are also unimaginable, meaning the weather is ideal for golf, a sport that requires spending several hours outdoors. Yes, plenty of snowbirds flock to L.A. to play golf during winter, and city denizens regularly invade the links. Learn about 23 of the best 18-hole public golf courses in L.A. County, with signature holes listed in most cases.

  •     Riviera Country Club
A championship course that's a favorite of many pros and Hollywood stars from Humphrey Bogart and Walt Disney to Adam Sandler and Luke Wilson. The Riviera could be known as "Hogan's Alley" - it's a beloved, classic gem, and not much has changed since the first tee-off in 1927.

  • Griffith Park Golf Courses
The heartbeat of LA muni golf lives at Griffith Park, home to two regulation courses named after presidents, the Harding and Wilson courses, and two short courses.

  • Alondra Golf Course
This freeway friendly L.A. County public golf course is sandwiched between the 405 and El Camino College. William P. Bell and William H. Johnson, two names you?ll read often in this story, designed the north course, which is par 72 and opened in 1947. Cecil B. Hollingsworth also designed a south course that debuted the same year.

  • Angeles National Golf Club
LA's only Jack Nicklaus design roams the foothills of the Angeles National Forest off the 210 freeway. Two lakes, a creek and more than 50 bunkers create the challenge. The Spanish-inspired clubhouse is a welcoming pit stop after golf.

  • Palos Verdes Golf Club
Local Architect Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design used old photographs to restore the William Bell/George Thomas course in 2014 to its former glory with a few modern twists. The mostly private club, with views of the ocean from 13 holes, only allows public play after 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and after 2 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.

  • Los Verdes Golf Club
Rarely can you play golf with such beautiful ocean views for such an affordable price. Overcrowding can be an issue so make sure you scope out tee times during non-peak times.

Parks & Studios
Universal Studios Hollywood' is the only authentic, working movie studio and theme park in the world. It's as much a can't-miss during your holidays. From the world famous Studio Tour to thrilling rides and family friendly attractions, the magic of moviemaking is made real for everyone who comes to experience it.
For movie and TV fans, it doesn't get any better than the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, which offers an immersive, behind the scenes look into Hollywood at work. Guests experience a fascinating 2-hour tour that travels through famous backlot streets, soundstages, sets and craft shops.

Cycle
The Marvin Braude Bike Trail (aka The Strand) is a 22-mile bike path that connects many of L.A.'s best beaches and offers the best day of coastal bike riding that anyone could ask for. The flat, paved path winds past Santa Monica and Venice, then heads inland at Marina Del Rey, is back on the beach at Playa del Rey and stays close to the sand all the way past the Beach Cities of the South Bay (Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo) to Torrance Beach, where the path ends. The Strand is popular with cyclists, joggers, rollerbladers and anyone lucky enough to find themselves on the beloved beachside path.

Walk
According to Business Insider, the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame is the number one most visited landmark in the United States.
The world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame features more than 2,500 terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalk along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street. The five-pointed stars honor the accomplishments of actors, musicians, directors, producers and others in the entertainment industry.

On the water
Surf
It's a quintessential part of Southern California geography and culture: the world-class beaches and surf breaks in Los Angeles County. Whether you?re a seasoned salty surfer or a relatively dry rookie, you're sure to find a spot suited for you.
