Overview

This stunning four-bedroom luxury villa in Canggu oozes contemporary chic.  If modern edgy design is your thing, you won't find a better backdrop for entertaining and impressing friends and family.  The villa's 25-metre pool, large tropical garden and beautiful interior make it a perfect oasis both inside and out.  The master bedroom and three guest bedrooms reflect a sleek taste in design and have plenty of character.  Located in Canggu's Batu Bolong district, Villa Kayajiwa sits at the heart of one of the trendiest and most up and coming areas in Bali.

The villa's architecture can best be described as contemporary chic. Its volcanic stone cladding and sharp lines give it a minimalist feel and make it very "Instagrammable". The interior design reflects the owner's desire to fuse Balinese art with splashes of colourful South East Asian influences. This results in lovely warm spaces which ooze style and feng shui but without ever being over the top.

Accommodation

Villa Kayajiwa oozes the kind of glamour and design chic that graces the covers of magazines.  It's the perfect Canggu luxury villa for a family or group of friends with a love for contemporary design and a desire to experience Bali in style.

Cool and breezy during the day while mellow and cosy at night, the villa's extraordinary combination of dark wood, volcanic stone, splashes of colour and Eastern traditional art reflect the Singaporean owner's keen eye for modern architecture and design.  And with a 25-metre pool and large tropical garden Villa Kayajiwa's outdoor spaces are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, entertaining and playing.

The villa has four luxurious bedrooms: the large master suite and two spacious guest bedrooms both with semi-open-air bathrooms  are on the ground floor; a smaller bedroom, which shares its bathroom with the massage room, is upstairs.

This villa epitomises the concept of yin and yang.  The moment you step outside your room, you cross a little moat  a feature that provides the whole outside area with the calming sound of flowing water.  Yet it also comes with its very own purpose-built karaoke room, guaranteeing endless hours of fun.

The professional and discrete staff will tend to your every need.

You're only a three-minute walk away from Batu Bolong  the famous road that gives the local area its name and which is at the centre of Bali's eco-conscious and healthy living movement.  It's an easy 20-minute walk to the beach, passing dozens of boutiques, vegan eateries and juice bars along the way.

The area becomes a little less high-minded at night, when it transforms into a hotspot for the young and fabulous. The closer you get to the beach, the greater the variety of cocktail bars, restaurants and beach parties.

Villa Kayajiwa is built in an L-shape around a stunning 25-metre pool with a large wooden sun deck and tropical garden.  Most of the villa's rooms are on the ground floor and are connected with a walkway.  On the upper floor is the massage room, one guest room and a large furnished roof terrace.  The villa's layout and the picture-perfect rice-field views make it a great spot for entertaining, relaxing and experiencing outdoor tropical living.

The wall panels in Villa Kayajiwa's living and dining space can be opened up entirely for a tropical-living experience overlooking the pool (although the space can equally be closed and air-conditioned if a cooler environment is preferred).  The dining room is furnished with a stunning solid wood table which can easily seat ten, while the warm tones of the living room, combined with the colourful sofas and the beautiful ornaments (including a very impressive Balinese wedding crown), give this space a very authentic Eastern feel.

The kitchen is across the corridor from the living room and has all modern comforts and appliances, including a very large fridge and worktop. Guests are welcome to make use of it as they please.

The machine in the purpose-built karaoke room is stocked with all the Western ballads and Asian K-pop you'll need to sing the night away.  Furnished with two comfortable sofas, this room doubles as a home cinema and has its own bathroom.

Upstairs, the massage room is furnished with a treatment table and shares a bathroom with the adjacent twin guest bedroom.

Villa Kayajiwa is perfectly set up for outdoor living.  Four comfortable loungers are arranged on the sun deck and a large jacuzzi flows into the 25-metre swimming pool, while a spacious balé makes a great spot for an afternoon snooze.

The large tropical garden is bordered by a moat, and the sound of running water throughout the villa's outdoor spaces creates a relaxing oasis.

Upstairs is a large roof terrace with a barbecue pit and stunning rice-field views.  Furnished with two all-weather sofas, this is the perfect sun trap during the day and a great spot for cocktails at sunset.

Activities

Villa Kayajiwa's manager has plenty of information about all the places of interest in the area and can arrange transport or make bookings for you. In fact, many of the villa staff live locally and if you're interested they will be happy to give you some interesting insights into aspects of Bali life.

Here's a quick overview of some of the many and varied activities on offer within easy reach of the villa.

  • If you're into yoga and meditation, you're only minutes away from The Practice and  Serenity, two of Canggu's most popular yoga studios. Both are based in beautiful bamboo buildings and offer a variety of daily workshops and courses.
  • If you enjoy eating out, you'll find some exciting and high-quality dining choices in Batu Bolong. For breakfast and brunch there's Betelnut which has a great selection of hearty vegetarian options, or The Shady Shack if you prefer vegan food. For dining we can recommend Moana Fish Eatery, which serves excellent dishes in a lovely Hawaiian themed atmosphere, or Luigi's for some top notch Neapolitan pizzas.
  • Samadi farmers market is just a short walk away. It runs twice weekly, with stallholders from different family-run farms from around Bali. It also has a great mix of local and expat craftspeople offering their wares.
  • Explore the scenic rice-field landscape and nearby rural villages such as Pererenan and Seseh by bicycle; a great way to get under the skin of the real Bali. Stop off at a local warung (eatery) to sample some basic Balinese fare.
  • The most exclusive Bali trekking tour promises breath-taking vistas and heart-warming encounters while supporting sustainable social change in the once-forgotten villages of Muntigunung. Elite Havens is a proud partner of Muntigunung Community Social Enterprise.
  • Villa Kayajiwa is only 10km from the famous sea temple of Tanah Lot, one of Bali's most important temples, and also one of its most popular tourist attractions. You can expect a lot of people and camera phones if you visit during sunset, especially during peak holiday season. We advise visiting early in the morning (8-9am) when there are less people and you?ll have a much better chance to really experience the power of this sacred place.
  • Play a round at the well-laid out 18-hole Bali Beach Golf Course in Sanur or the 85-hectare New Kuta Golf Course on the Bukit Peninsula, for fantastic ocean views.
  • Drive westwards to explore the charming Tabanan regency, revealing terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains and black-sand beaches dotted with fishing communities. Or head north to explore the volcanic lakes near the mountain town of Bedugul, including Lake Bratan with its photogenic and stunningly positioned temple  Pura Ulun Danu.
  • Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.

Services included

Villa manager; villa attendants; security; gardener; maintenance staff. Additional staff (eg chef, spa therapist and babysitter) available on request for an additional charge.

Additional Notes

Families
Villa holidays are a great option for families, providing plenty of private and secure space for everyone, and giving guests the freedom to choose what they want to do and when they want to do it. Not having to worry about disturbing other guests is also a plus  creating a more relaxing time for parents and children too. Villa Kayajiwa's large garden and enormous pool will more than likely keep your children and teenagers entertained for hours. Not to mention the karaoke room! Because of the moat and the prominence of the pool, however, parents with very young children will need to keep a close watch. A pool fence can be hired on request (small extra charge applies).

You don't need to worry about packing lots of bulky children's equipment. We'd be happy to hire any items on your behalf for the duration of your stay (click here to see a list of all available hire items).

The kitchen is fully equipped if you'd like to prepare baby meals or anything for a fussy eater yourself.

Dining
With such a vast array of excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner options within moments of Villa Kayajiwa, a chef is not included in the villa rate. However, should you prefer to have a private chef on-site, we'd be happy to arrange this at an additional cost.
Groceries and beverages are charged at market price (plus a 20% handling fee which is subject to service and tax at the prevailing rate). Guests will be requested to provide grocery money in advance, and the staff will do the shopping and keep the receipts for reference. To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before.

Spa
Villa Kayajiwa has its own spa room with massage table. Depending on your mood you can either open the beautifully crafted Balinese doors to enjoy views of the nearby rice fields, or keep things cool and subdued to experience the esoteric magic of the room. Alternatively, enjoy a treatment outdoors by the pool or on the roof terrace. We recommend a number of deluxe treatments carried out by the fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's an idea of what's on the spa menu:

Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Therapists will use a combination of acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body. You'll feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing skill which focuses on the nerve endings in your feet and the way they correspond with every part of your body. By applying gentle pressure on these nerve endings therapists are able to relieve tension and improving your circulation.

Body scrub
A full body scrub exfoliates and hydrates your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines abrasive materials such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils. They remove any impurities and give your skin a lovely glow.

Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet rarely get the tender care and attention they deserve, so why not treat them to a little manicure or pedicure. You may even be spoiled with an additional cheeky hand or foot massage.

Transport
Villa Kayajiwa is within easy walking distance of a wide selection of restaurants and shops in Batu Bolong and Canggu, and only a 20-minute drive from Seminyak.  Taxis are readily available and, for sight-seeing around Bali, a car and driver can be arranged by your villa manager (extra cost applies).
