Overview
Named after the sand piper that frequents the nearby shores, Villa Kedidi is only 100 metres from Canggu Beach on Bali's south west coast. Resting quietly in a private walled garden next to four-bedroom Villa Kakatua, this three-bedroom haven is the quintessential Balinese home.
The villa is designed in traditional Bali style, with solid coconut beams supporting high serapwood ceilings that capture the tropical breeze and cool the open-sided living spaces. An enticing natural green-stone swimming pool sits strategically in the middle of the compound, promoting easy access from the surrounding bedrooms that feature beautifully carved wooden beds and semi-open garden bathrooms.
The special Balinese ambiance is further enhanced by exquisite artefacts and antiquities that are found throughout the home and in the lush tropical gardens. Intricate carved limestone murals depict stories of times gone by, giving insights into the island's diverse and fascinating culture.
Perfect for families, Villa Kedidi is equipped with everything from high chairs and baby cots to pool fencing and swimming aids. The warm and friendly staff are excellent with children allowing parents to relax and unwind knowing the kids are in a safe and secure environment.
If guests do decide to venture out, Canggu Beach - the place to catch a wave, take a walk or admire the magical sunsets - is just a stone's throw away, while a car and driver provided at special price, excluding petrol.
Villa Kedidi is definitely the ideal choice for those wishing to experience a taste of luxury at an affordable price.
Accommodation
Villa Kedidi is accessed by a private path bordered by plants and limestone carvings that leads to its traditional Balinese doors. Behind these doors guests are greeted by an aling-aling wall (a short partition wall which, according to traditional belief, protects the villa from bad spirits).
With the bedrooms and living spaces built around the swimming pool, the villa is neat and compact; similar in composition to the traditional ?compound' design of most Balinese homes.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
All three air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Kedidi are similar in design with polished cream terrazzo floors, ceiling fans, beautifully carved wooden beds draped with mosquito nets and antique batik throws. Tastefully decorated with Javanese antiques and traditional paintings and portraits, the rooms are very homely and comfortable. iPod docks add a modern touch while the lovely garden bathrooms, dotted with bluestone pebbles and with open-air showers, inject tropical style.
The master suite (with the additional luxury of a tub in its bathroom) and the twin bedroom are located in separate pavilions at opposite ends of the swimming pool, both featuring a TV and DVD player. Sliding glass doors open onto each room?s veranda where a daybed is perfectly positioned for reading or taking a quick nap.
The third bedroom is accessed via large wooden fortress doors from the living area or from glass sliding doors that open onto a patio with a beautiful blue urn water feature. This room?s bathroom is not ensuite but lies just beyond the bedroom doors, off the living area. It is also accessible to guests.
Living & Dining Areas
Indoor living
The open-sided living and dining area, with gorgeous views out to the pool and garden, is the communal hub of the villa. Scattered with artefacts and paintings under traditional high ceilings this room evokes an authentic Balinese ambiance. Blue and white Chinese ceramic pots add a splash of colour along with a green marble side table.
Two wicker sofas with soft batik cushions provide the ideal spot to put your feet up and enjoy a movie under the watchful eye of a carved Buddha and the glass-topped dining table (seats six) is great for family meals.
Recently renovated (2011), the modern kitchen comes with all the necessary stainless steel appliances and essential children's equipment (high chairs, cutlery, etc.).
Outdoor living
The focal point of the villa is the 10-metre green-stone, salt-water swimming pool with its poolside balé and sun loungers. Take a nap, read a book or indulge in a massage ? relaxation is the key.
The lush green foliage and exotic plants create a cool tropical vibe and private oasis within the villa's compact walls.

In the meantime, here's a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of Villa Kedidi.
- Sports enthusiasts should head to Bali's prestigious Canggu Club, ten minutes drive away, with its state-of-the-art gym and tennis and squash courts. Reward your work-outs with some fine international dining, then stock up on gourmet goodies at the nearby Deli.

- Make the de rigueur pilgrimage to sacred Pura Tanah Lot, one of Bali's biggest tourist magnets. Perched high on a craggy wave-lashed rock, this ancient sea temple is best savoured at sunset, however there are less crowds early morning; make sure you receive a blessing from the Hindu Priests.
- Alternatively, view Tanah Lot from the 12th hole of Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by the Indian Ocean and rice fields just down from the sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course designed by golf legend, Greg Norman is frequently voted Asia's number one.
- Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should hotfoot it down to Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave, Seminyak. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of global-inspired gourmet restaurants, stylish boutiques and hipper-than-thou bars ? including much hyped Ku Dé Ta, on Seminyak beachfront.

Additional Notes
Families
Villa holidays are an excellent option for families and Villa Kedidi was one of the first villas on the island to cater for youngsters.Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome extra equipment for your stay as we can provide you with all the essentials, and more ? from pool safety fences to baby baths, cots, monitors, high chairs and car seats. We even offer toddler friendly cutlery, blenders and sterilising equipment. Anything we don't have we can order in for a small fee.
The facilities are all yours too of course, along with the freedom to use them whenever you want: starlit swims, midnight movies or morning massages ? it's up to you. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too. The team of friendly staff will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).
Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Burgers in the balé for lunch? Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? No problem. The chefs can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.
And when the excitement of exploring the villa starts to wear off, check out our Things to do page; there's plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.
Dining
Take advantage of the three experienced chefs who are at your service to prepare delicious homestyle meals. The villa offers a suggestion menu featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes with an excellent selection of vegetarian and children's options.Be sure to sample some of the local Balinese delicacies such as sate ayam (chicken satay) or gado-gado (vegetables with peanut sauce). With the abundance of seafood on your doorstep, ask one of the chefs to cook up the catch of the day on the hot-stone barbecue.
If guests have specific requests the in-house chefs are more than happy to tailor meals accordingly and accommodate any special dietary requirements. To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before. Guests will be invoiced for provisions at cost, plus 20% service charge.
Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of the villa by fully trained spa therapists. Here's a sample of what's on the menu:Balinese massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
