Overview

Villa LuWih has been thoughtfully designed to capitalize on its prime location overlooking Pererenan Beach on Bali's dramatic and unspoiled south-west coastline. Angled towards the ocean and the spectacular sunsets, three floors of stylish and luxurious accommodation are fronted by acres of glass to ensure that wherever you are in the villa, you won't forget where you are in the world.

This congenial villa offers a dazzling choice of adaptable living space. From the slick poolside bar to the state-of-the art media room with its giant 60-inch TV, guests of all ages and all interests will find a place to please them. This flexibility and abundance of indoor and outdoor living space makes Villa LuWih an ideal choice for families who want to stay and play together, or friends looking for the best of both worlds ? peaceful spots to spend their day and social spaces to party the night away.

The six bright, spacious bedrooms, with a snug on the ground floor offering the option of a seventh bedroom, are spread across all three floors, ensuring plenty of privacy and the convenience of being able to group families together in separate parts of the villa. Bathrooms, all ensuite, are also big and bright, and fitted with large tubs, standing showers and lots of windows to let the views and sunlight flood in. The villa is fully air-conditioned, but most of the glass-fronted rooms can be opened widely to the ocean breezes if tropical outdoor living is your thing.

As part of its super-flexible layout, Villa LuWih offers guests a choice of swimming pool. At ground level is a splendid 16-metre lap pool, with a shallow end for the kids, a shady relaxation balé, and several pairs of brightly cushioned loungers alongside. One level up, flanked by the media room and an indoor/outdoor sitting area, is the second pool ? smaller than the first, but with the best views in the house from its glass fronted depths.

A team of graceful and welcoming staff will take care of your every need at Villa LuWih. Your villa manager will happily help with tour bookings and restaurant reservations, although with a skilled private chef at your disposal, you may be perfectly content just to stay ?home' and enjoy delicious meals selected from the villa's suggestion menu.

Accommodation

From Villa LuWih's secure carpark, stepping stones lead across a lawned garden, passing the open-fronted pool bar and one of the pools before reaching the main villa building which faces out to the unobstructed, wide ocean views.

On the villa's ground floor are two bedrooms (plus an overflow ensuite bedroom in a freestanding pavilion by the pool bar) a living room, a modern fitted guest kitchen with breakfast bar, and a separate dining room. Up one level are two further bedrooms, the media room, the second swimming pool, and a sitting area surrounded by folding glass doors that can be opened up to the tropical air or closed for air-conditioned cool. Finally, stairs from the ground floor lead down to a lower level where two more bedrooms are privately housed and open onto a small walled garden.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Villa LuWih offers six spacious, luxurious, air-conditioned ensuite bedrooms, plus an extra twin-bedded room with ensuite bathroom occupying a separate pavilion overlooking the garden at the villa entrance. Intricately carved wooden panels form ornate backdrops to the beds, all of which are dressed in crisp linen, accented in brightly coloured silks and swathed in romantic white-net canopies. With marble floors, white walls and simple but elegant wood and rattan furniture, bedrooms are equipped with 40-inch flat-screen TVs and telephones.

The two bedrooms on the lower ground floor make an ideal family suite. The king-bedded room has its own sitting area and a bathroom fitted with a twin vanity, rain shower, and sunken bath. Next door is a twin-bedded room, ideal for children. From both rooms, sliding glass doors open onto a landscaped walled garden.

On the ground floor are two elegant king-bedded rooms, one facing the pool through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and the other with sea views through the glass fronted living area.

Occupying the villa's top floor, are the remaining two bedrooms. Both are furnished with king beds and present fine ocean views through walls of sliding glass doors.

Living & Dining Areas

Living and dining

Villa LuWih's expansive ground floor living space has the relaxed air of a stylish, contemporary beach house. Décor is simple and peppered with interesting Indonesian artefacts and natural wood pieces that echo the beach house theme. Banks of floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides of this room bring the outdoors in and provide uninterrupted views of the famous surf breaks of Pererenan beach. A huge U-shaped sofa surrounds a beautiful glass-topped coffee table with a natural wood base, and traditional Balinese stone carvings flank a 55-inch flat-screen with Apple TV.

Media room

Located on the upper level and overlooking the pool is Villa LuWih's state-of?the-art media room. This air-conditioned space has glass sliding doors that lead out to the upper pool and has beautiful views over Pererenan Beach. Outfitted with a large, comfortable L-shaped sofa, glass topped coffee table and wooden paddle ceiling fan, this room is the place to be when you want an escape from the heat. Watch your favourite stars come to life on the giant 60-inch flat-screen TV, live out your fantasies with the latest PlayStation game, or chill to some soothing tunes on the surround-sound system. This room has it all, and is a great entertainment space for adults and children alike

Outside space

A special feature at Villa LuWih is the dramatic waterfall that cascades down from the upper level swimming pool to the impressively proportioned 16 x 4-metre lap pool flanking the living area. With a thoughtfully designed 4 x 4-metre shallow area for the kids at one end, this delightful oasis will keep everyone happy. Brightly cushioned sun loungers line the west-facing side of the pool together with a shady relaxation balé that just begs you to curl up on its comfortable cushions with a long cool drink and a good book. Fringed by tropical foliage within the villa's small but perfectly formed garden is a chic open-air bar that seems to exert an ever stronger magnetism as cocktail hour approaches and the sun begins to set.

For a quiet escape and more romantic sunset views, head up to LuWih's upper level pool. At the far end of the water is a decked sitting area furnished with an L-shaped wicker sofa adorned with colourful cushions. The folding glass doors surrounding this room make it a wonderfully flexible indoor?outdoor space. On the far side of the pool is a glass-fronted balcony where two double daybeds lie poised to soak up the sun and the ocean panorama.

Location

Tucked away at the end of a quiet rural lane in the district of Canggu, Villa Lu Wih is located just a stone's throw from the dramatic black sands and rolling waves of Pererenan Beach ? one of Bali's most popular surfing spots. The villa is also just a short drive from trendy Echo Beach (7km) with its beachfront bars, restaurants and surf shops. Heading slightly further south down the coast is the fascinating museum-hotel Tugu, which is well worth dropping into for drinks or dinner. Villa Lu Wih is approximately mid-way between the top-rated Nirwana Bali Golf course and neighbouring Tanah Lot beach temple (both 10km), and the sophisticated shopping and dining centre of Seminyak (13km).

Activities

The villa manager at Villa Lu Wih will typically have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.

In the meantime, here's a taste of some of the activities on offer within reach of the villa.

  • If you've always dreamed of galloping along a beach or riding through villages bordered by rice fields, now's your chance. Bali Horse Adventure, located five minutes from the villa, can arrange horse riding tours, as well as children's riding lessons and horse-drawn carriage outings.
  • Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
  • Catch a wave, or several, at some of Bali's best surfing beaches, all are within easy access and Pererenan is right on your doorstep. There are several surf schools in Bali, mainly based in and around Kuta and Legian, where young and old(er) can learn to surf or brush up on their skills.
  • On Canggu Beach, be sure to visit mystical Hotel Tugu Bali. Bali's first museum/hotel is studded with priceless Indonesian artworks and antiques and its award-winning spa offers age-old Eastern therapies.
  • Make the de rigueur pilgrimage to sacred Pura Tanah Lot, one of Bali's biggest tourist magnets. Perched high on a craggy, wave-lashed rock, this ancient sea temple is best savoured at sunset but is less busy in the mornings; be sure to receive a blessing from the Hindu priests.
  • Alternatively, view Tanah Lot from the 12th hole of Nirwana Bali Golf Club. Bordered by ocean and rice fields just down from the sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.
  • Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should hot-foot it down to Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave, Seminyak. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, global-inspired restaurants, chic boutiques and hipper-than-thou bars ? including much hyped, Ku Dé Ta and The Potato Head Beach Club.
  • Drive westwards to explore the unchartered West Bali region, where the charming Tabanan Regency reveals terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains including Mt Batukaru and black-sand beaches dotted with fishing communities ? treasures that Bali is famed for.
  • For a day of culture and dramatic landscapes, drive directly north from the villa to the mountain town of Bedugul. From here, explore three volcanic lakes, including Bratan, with its photogenic and stunningly positioned Pura Ulun Danu ? one of Bali's most important temples.
  • If you are a bold and brave bargain hunter, a shopping spree at one of the Denpasar's markets within the heart of Bali's bustling provincial capital, is an exciting and rewarding experience.

Services included

Exclusive use of the villa and the services of its team of staff including manager, butler and chefs. All villa facilities including pool, kitchen, car and driver at special rates US$25++ for consecutive 8 hours/day exclude petrol and unlimited Wi-Fi access.

Additional Notes

Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

Villa LuWih is a wonderful choice for families. The garden is big enough for a game of catch and the lower swimming pool has a shallow (1m), kid friendly end. The walled garden at the villa's lower level is safe and secure and completely separate from the pools (pool safety fences can also be hired on request). And if the tropical sun proves too much, the kids can curl up in the cool of the media room and entertain themselves with TV, movies, and video games.

The team of friendly staff at Villa LuWih will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped guest kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Be it eggs on toast at the breakfast bar in the morning or grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch by the pool, our chefs and staff will take care of it all, customising everything to suit children's taste buds.

And don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need; anything we don't have in-house we can hire on your behalf.

Dining
The personal chef at Villa LuWih is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The villa offers an extensive suggestion menu of delicious home-style meals featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes, with an excellent selection of vegetarian and children's options. The chef is also more than happy to tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements. A stay is not complete without sampling the chef's pepes ikan (fish steamed in banana leaf), satay ayam (chicken satay on bamboo skewers) or pisang goreng (fried banana) with ice cream.

Groceries and beverages are charged at cost price plus 20%. Guests will be requested to provide grocery money in advance, and the staff will do the shopping and keep the receipts for reference. To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before. To minimise disruption to guests, our chef works from a staff kitchen located on the villa's lower level, so the only ?disturbance' will be the tantalizing, mouthwatering smells wafting up from the kitchen below.

Spa Services
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of the villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:

Massage
Release built-up tension with a traditional Balinese massage beside the pool or in the privacy of your bedroom. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
