Villa Manis, our eight-bedroom holiday home, is set in vibrant tropical gardens amidst the lush green rice fields of Bali, where sea breezes and ocean vistas mix with great facilities, friendly staff and top-quality service to present you the perfect villa holiday.
Located less than a kilometre from the beach in Pererenan, a traditional village in the heart of Bali's sought-after district of Canggu, Villa Manis is packed with facilities for young and old, offering you so much more than just a place to stay. Dine alfresco in the sun-drenched gardens, swim in our 17-metre swimming pool while the kids frolic in theirs, relax in the jacuzzi, recline in the massive living room with it's many sofas and splendid painted ceiling, chill out in the air-conditioned TV room, or head to one of two outdoor living areas, hit the gym, relax in the spa, or simply enjoy your room's private terrace or balcony ? there are plenty of places to hang out with the crowd or seek some serene solitude.

Your private chef will prepare delectable dishes from around the world or rustle up a seafood barbecue or a traditional Balinese feast, and is also open to special dietary requests.

Accommodation
Villa Manis comprises four pavilions set around a large, tiered garden and swimming pools orientated towards the ocean and an expanse of neighbouring rice fields.
Guests enter through the main pavilion, which houses the indoor living and dining room and a guest bedroom and media room on the ground floor, plus a kitchen set to the rear. The upper floor of this pavilion is dedicated to a large master suite with private ocean-view balcony.
Two ground-floor guest bedrooms occupy the second pavilion, either side of the villa's spa. Next to this is a two-storey pavilion with two bedrooms, one on each floor. At the far end of the garden is the fourth pavilion which houses the pool lounge and jacuzzi on the ground floor and two twin bedrooms upstairs. The gymnasium is located towards the rear of the villa, next to the manager's office.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
All eight bedrooms at Villa Manis are equipped with TVs, air-conditioning, ensuite bathrooms and are furnished with either king beds or twins that can be converted to kings.
Master suite
More than just a master suite, this room takes up the entire first floor of the main pavilion and features a massive sleeping chamber with ocean views from its bed. The suite's private wrap-around balcony is furnished with daybed, tables, chairs and more views, while the ensuite bathroom, complete with jacuzzi tub, leather sofas and chairs, is bigger than an average inner city apartment.
Guest bedrooms
Just off the living room, the first guest room is lots of fun, with coloured Buddha statutes, hardwood and terrazzo floors, furniture inlaid with cinnamon wood, and a splendid four-poster bed with orbs of many colours forming its uprights. Sliding doors let in lots of light and access a private courtyard, while an outdoor shower and purple velvet sofa in the bathroom make bath time something to look forward to.
Guest rooms two and three sit either side of the villa's dedicated spa and luxuriate under lofty ceilings. These rooms open to their own sitting area and to the garden and pool. Both are designed to the same layout and furnished with twin beds (convertible to kings), and both have sunny outdoor showers in their ensuite bathrooms for a great start to the day.
King-bedded guest rooms four and five occupy one floor apiece in a two-storey pavilion. The lower room is spacious and dramatic with elegant velvet chairs and couches and dark hardwood floors, countered by a bright and sunny outdoor shower in its ensuite. The upper room has a four-poster bed and a lighter décor and, while not as big as downstairs, has a breezy private balcony overlooking the garden and out to sea. Both rooms have fold-out couches suitable for sleeping a child.
Guest rooms six and seven are located upstairs in a pavilion at the far end of the villa grounds with views of the rice fields or garden. Both of these ensuite rooms are furnished with twin beds that can be converted to kings. While they are smaller than the others at the villa, these bedrooms are comfortable and well suited to a family of four who want to be close to the kids
Living & Dining Areas
The main pavilion at Villa Manis combines a very spacious lounge, dining room and entrance hall adorned with original artworks and antiques. Sliding glass doors on two sides of this bright room lead out to the garden and overlook the neighbouring rice fields. In the dining space is a long table with seating for 12 and a bar area, while at the centre of the room, under an impressive double-height ceiling depicting scenes from Balinese mythology, is an arrangement of comfortable sofas, chairs and coffee tables. A media room with cosy couches and a 60-inch TV adjoins the far end of this elegant living space. On a terrace alongside the pool, is a dining table for 12 sheltered by a retractable awning to keep the tropical sun at bay.
Outside the spa under a high wooden ceiling is a sitting area with soft sofas and chairs arranged next to a koi pond. It looks out over the garden and pool and is positioned to catch the sea breezes.
At the far end of the property is a cool, white-themed, open-sided pool lounge, furnished with leather sofas, coffee tables and a drinks bar, as well as a white stone jacuzzi.

Staff & Services
One of the greatest advantages of staying in a villa is the personalised service provided by dedicated staff. Villa Manis' staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Balinese hospitality.
Villa manager
Villa Manis' friendly manager oversees the staff team, coordinates the running of the property and assists guests during their stay.
Villa supervisor
A villa supervisor works closely with the manager and is on hand to assist guests with their day-to-day needs.
Chef
The villa's skilled private chef will happily prepare dishes from the priced Western, Asian, vegetarian and children's menus as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.
Housekeepers
Villa Manis' team of housekeepers are on hand to wait upon guests every need. Their duties include, table service, food preparation, daily housekeeping and domestic duties.
Garden and pool
A gardener maintains Villa Manis' lush gardens and pool. A maintenance man is also on hand to fix problems as they occur.
Security
Five security guards work on shift to provide 24-hour security from the main gate.
Driver
The villa's driver is available to guests for up to eight hours per day.

Location
Vila Manis is located in the village of Pererenan in the north Canggu area. In the immediate vicinity are a few neighbouring villas, rice fields, coconut palms, temples and the general buzz of Balinese village life. The rugged Pererenan surf beach is less than a kilometre from the villa; here you will find a couple of cafés that serve simple food and offer great sunset views. Less than half an hour away ? and easily accessible thanks to the villa's complimentary car and driver ? are the many restaurants, bars, boutiques, clubs and cafés of chic Seminyak.

Activities
Villa Manis' manager will have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.
In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.
- Villa Manis is close to the famous temple at Tanah Lot. Visiting early in the morning (8-9am) to avoid the tourist crowds provides a better idea of the power of the location and the chance to see it undisturbed apart from perhaps an offering ceremony.
- At Echo Beach a number of cafes offer good sunset views and cold beer. Note that the beach here is dark sand and the waters are better suited to surfing, having a pronounced swell and rip, rather than children's swimming. Hotel Tugu, a very stylish and eclectic boutique hotel a few minutes further down the coast is also a good sunset spot.
- Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should hot-foot it down to Seminyak, Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, chic boutiques. There is a wide choice of fine dining, mid range, and cheap ?n cheerful restaurants in Seminyak too: fine dining venues include Sarong, the famous Ku Dé Ta, Mama San, La Lucciola, Merah Putih, Sardine and Métis.
- Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.
- Drive westwards to explore the charming Tabanan regency, revealing terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains and black-sand beaches dotted with fishing communities. Or head north to explore the volcanic lakes near the mountain town of Bedugul, including Lake Bratan with its photogenic and stunningly positioned Pura Ulun Danu ? one of Bali's most important temples.
- Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
- Bali Treetop Adventure Park is near the town of Bedugal in northern central Bali (next to Lake Bratan). Five adventure circuits, with heights ranging from two to 20 metres, challenge all level and ages on suspended bridges, spider nets, Tarzan jumps and 12 flying foxes.
- Explore the scenic rice-field landscape and rural villages; a great way to get under the skin of the ?real' Bali. Stop off at a local warung (café) to sample some basic Balinese fare or cool off with a cold drink.

Additional Notes
Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.While very young children will need supervision at Villa Manis due to the many water features throughout the grounds, it is a great villa for families. Four of the rooms have twin beds, which can be converted to kings if preferred, and there are sofa beds available in the larger bedrooms. For entertainment, there are DVDs, books, a shallow kids pool, pool toys as well as a good-sized lawn for playing games on.
The team of friendly staff at Villa Manis will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).
Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Toasties for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.
Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot, highchair, toys and games) we can hire on your behalf.
Dining
Our chef is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. Priced menus offer a wide array of Western, Asian and children's dishes, which the chef can tailor to suit guests' needs. A stay is not complete without sampling the chef's pepes ikan (fish steamed in banana leaf), satay ayam (chicken satay on bamboo skewers) or pisang goreng (fried banana) with ice cream.Dinner parties, unique dietary requirements and special orders can all be catered for, and meals can be a simple affair, a poolside barbecue, or a grand banquet according to guests' whims.
Grocery and beverage requests not on the menu are charged at cost plus a 20% surcharge. In this instance, staff will do the shopping and keep the receipts for reference. To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before whenever possible
Spa & Gym
Just because you are on holiday doesn't mean that your fitness regimen has to take a break as well. At Villa Manis you will find a state-of-the-art, air-conditioned gymnasium with weights, treadmill, cross trainer as well as a sauna for helping wind down after a workout.Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the villa's spa room by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage
Wedding
Tall trees and a large lawn together with the gorgeous setting of the pool and the manicured gardens overlooking the rice fields, make Villa Manis a great venue for weddings and other special celebrations for up to 150 guests .We can recommend expert event organisers, florists, decorators and caterers so you can focus on relaxing and celebrating with your guests.
