Overview
From heritage ironwood to Hermes upholstery, Villa 1880
delivers a mega-dose of style in micro detail. Skilfully crafted from a
19th century colonial plantation house sitting between two
unapologetically modern pavilions, the villa has a flawless design
pedigree shaped by the vision of the owners - an interior architect and
vintage store owner who share uncompromisingly high standards and an
obsessive attention to detail.
Throughout the villa, traditional
materials sit comfortably with contemporary design elements in
light-filled, uncluttered rooms where every piece of achingly chic
furniture has a story to tell. Chat in style on the Miniform Colony
armchairs in the formal living area, or perched on vintage Italian
barstools in front of a Filippo Sciascia painting on terracotta. Dip
into some Asian literature in the flamboyantly decorated media room
under the sleepless eye of a stuffed peacock. And you're unlikely to be
stuck for conversation seated at the four-metre long dining table on Emu
Re Touve chairs under a galaxy of pendant lights repurposed from old
mercury pots rescued from a Chinese shipwreck!
Villa 1880 is
designed with families very much in mind. It?s easy to keep an eye on
little ones frolicking in the 19-metre saltwater pool?s shaded shallow
area from the retro sofa or swaying hammock. And why not slip into the
spa while they play table tennis close by' At day's end, after sunset
cocktails and a sumptuous seafood barbecue prepared by the uber-talented
chef on the roof terrace, parents can retreat to the privacy of their
air-conditioned suites, while kids enjoy a perpetual slumber party in
their own eight-bunk bedroom.
With the wonderfully attentive
staff on hand to anticipate your every whim, you may not want to leave
the villa. But if you can tear yourself away, the broad expanse of Batu
Belig Beach beckons 500 metres away. Or pile into the vintage 1970s
restored VW combi and head to Seminyak or Canggu, or explore Bali's
myriad attractions further afield.
Accommodation
Villa 1880
comprises an antique plantation house sandwiched between two
contemporary buildings: a flat-roofed living pavilion at the front and a
double-storey bedroom block at the back. The entrance leads directly to
the large open-sided living pavilion lying alongside the 19m pool, with
open-plan guest kitchen and bar at one end, leading to the chef's
kitchen. A large terrace runs from the shallow section of the pool to
the master suite and the spa, and houses a casual seating area. From
here, steps lead up to the veranda which wraps around two sides of the
house, providing access to the sunset roof terrace, two guest bedrooms,
children?s bunk room, media room and, above, the romantic attic bedroom.
On an ironwood deck linking the original plantation house to the modern sleeping pavilion is a table tennis table and a casual seating area complete with hammock ? just the place to keep an eye on the kids in the shallows. At the opposite end of the 19-metre saltwater pool is a sun deck with four loungers and sleek alfresco shower.
Antique insect prints line the wall and presiding over this flamboyant space is a stuffed peacock.
Pockets of intimate seating are arranged on the veranda, which runs the length of the upper floor and leads to an enormous rooftop terrace furnished with brightly cushioned casual seating, long benches and a state-of-the-art barbecue.
Within the villa?s spa is a shower and changing area and a treatment room with twin massage beds and a hammam-style sunken bathtub for two opening onto tropical foliage and a water feature.
The villa also has a small studio office, separated from the living area by a koi pond, for those seeking a quiet space to work.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Master bedroom suite
Reclining
on the super-king bed in supreme comfort, encircled by billowing
curtains, glimpsing greenery beyond the plantation shutters on each
side, you?re in for a 21st century Bedouin tent experience. The master
suite is the only bedroom at garden level, its bed resting on a stunning
geometric-patterned terrazzo floor. Behind an eye-catching
copper-backed room divider is a writing desk and a wall of cane-fronted
wardrobes. The ensuite bathroom is equally generous, with twin vanities
and double doors leading into a partially covered courtyard garden with
statement bathtub and rain shower.
Guest suites 1 & 2
These
two upper-floor suites lie behind a bank of green plantation shutters
lining the ironwood veranda and overlooking a courtyard of dwarf palms.
Both feature super-king beds and handsome retro-style furniture. In
guest suite 1 a cream terrazzo bedhead cum room divider separates the
sleeping area from the bathroom, which is fitted with twin granite
basins and large shower enclosure. Guest suite 2 replicates the master
suite, with a retractable mosquito net around the bed, a desk and a wall
of wardrobes. Its bathroom, which connects to the bunk room bathroom,
has an indoor section with twin granite basins and shower, and a
courtyard with an alfresco bathtub and shower.

SPA
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
