Overview
From the cast bronze "mudra" hands adorning the handsome entrance door to the colourful batik cushions piled up on the poolside bale, Villa Adasa delivers a ega-dose of style, right down to the smallest detail. Alang-alang (thatch) and ironwood shingle roofs create spacious interiors with vaulted ceilings supported on Palimanan tone walls soaring above floors of terrazzo and teakwood. Bringing the Bali-style influence bang up to date, Turkish rugs contrast with black and white prints from the 30s, ossilised stone stools stand by side-tables made from traditional offering plates, and the Sonos music system and Paras stone fountains harmonise their melodies.
Gather in the huge living pavilion for a convivial meal or seafood barbecue prepared by the accomplished villa chef; retire to the double bale for a massage after a dip in the 14-metre green-stone-tiled pool; retreat to the upper deck for some sunbathing or yoga; enjoy sunset cocktails on the second level master bedroom terrace ? Villa Adasa
offers a choice of places for socialising as well as quiet time, and the glamorous master bedroom and two guest suites are each sanctuaries in themselves.
Accommodation
Within Villa Adasa's high-walled garden, three inter-connected buildings are neatly arranged in a U shape around the pool. Furthest from the teakwood entrance doors is the two-storey bedroom wing, with two guest bedrooms opening onto the garden and a huge master suite occupying the entire upper floor. To the right is the enormous open-sided living and dining pavilion, looking across the pool to the large bale. Alongside, a flat-roofed building houses the kitchen and staff quarters.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Master bedroom suite
The master suite spreads out over the entire second level of the bedroom wing. A king-size bed dressed with goosedown duvet and luxury linen sits on a floor of polished teakwood enriched with Tibetan rugs under a soaring vaulted roof. To one side is a study area with a wall of wardrobes, a reading corner and HD TV and DVD player. Opposite is the bathroom, with statement bathtub, walk-in shower and wide opening perfectly framing the sacred Gunung Agung mountain on a clear day. A private terrace runs the full length of the suite, where a built-in daybed provides the perfect sunset spot.
Guest bedrooms
The two guest bedrooms look out over the pool, with sliding glass doors opening onto the lawn. They both offer the flexibility of a king-size bed that can be converted to twins, making them equally suitable for children and friends as for couples. Each has a dressing area with plenty of wardrobe space, and an imposing sandstone-lined bathroom with soaring palms forming an indoor garden. With HD TVs and DVD players, guests may retire to air-conditioned comfort to watch a movie of their choice without fighting for the remote control.
4 extra beds on request.
Living & Dining Areas
The massive 80-square-metre open-sided and fan-cooled living pavilion features a traditional thatched roof, sandstone walls and an expanse of terrazzo floor lined by a fishpond with antique stone water features on one side, the pool wall on the other. Cream sofas covered with colourful batik cushions create a comfortable seating area, while a handcrafted teakwood dining table provides seating for eight in supremely comfortable wicker armchairs.
Adjacent to the swimming pool, the modern galley kitchen's whitewashed shutters slide open to create a bar of recycled teak, a favourite area for cocktails, a late breakfast, a quiet lunch or snacks at any time. This wing also contains staff and service areas.
All your entertainment needs are catered for with a wireless Sonos sound system accessible throughout the villa and a large-screen HD TV.

Location
Villa Adasa's located in the Laksmana enclave, an exclusive gated community with round-the-clock security in the heart of Seminyak's "Golden Triangle" - the chicest area on Bali's south-western coast. Only 200m from the beach, the villa is a short stroll from some of the best restaurants and bars on the island, including La Lucciola, Petitenget, Metis, Sarong, Ku De Ta and Potato Head. (The Miele Guide rates Ku De Ta and Sarong in the top 20 restaurants in Asia). Also within walking distance are boutiques, lifestyle shops and spas - the famed Jari Menari will even send a therapist to the villa so guests enjoy spa treatments in privacy. Close by is Pura Petitenget, one of Bali's most sacred temples and the site of some spectacular ceremonies.
Activities
Villa Adasa's manager will have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.
In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.
- You could eat out at a different restaurant in Seminyak every night _ for months _ and still not run out of options. Jalan Laksmana (also known as Jalan Oberoi and Jalan KayuAya) is Bali's fashionable 'Eat Street', offering plenty of high-end restaurants including Sarong and Nutmegs at Hu'u Bar. La Lucciola Restaurant is great for sunset drinks, as is The Breeze at The Samaya. Ku Dé Ta is still the place to see and be seen, but Cocoon and Potato Head beach clubs are classy seaside alternatives. Then there's La Plancha, a popular rustic beach bar with good tapas, very reasonably priced drinks, and live music events. Nearby, dine out at the fabulous 'Petitenget', an iconic bar and restaurant on Jalan Petitenget, perfect for a casual lunch with the family or evening cocktails and dinner with friends. A short taxi to Kerobokan will bring you to Sardine and Métis (from the owners of former and fabulous Kafé Warisan) and Naughty Nuri's Batubelig (a franchise of the original in Ubud) famous for barbecue ribs and wicked Martinis.
- Shop till you drop! In Seminyak and neighbouring Kerobokan you can rummage for treasures through cluttered little stores and dark junkshops crammed to the ceiling with curios and "made-to-order" antiques, derive inspiration from classy homeware shops, or wander through huge furniture warehouses. For furniture and homewares check out Lio Collection, Christy, and Sun. Soft furnishings abound at Haveli, Sunbebek and Disini, and Geneva is the one-stop shop for handicrafts. In Jalan Laksmana (Eat Street) you can shop between courses! Boutiques include Paul Ropp, Biasa, Magali Pascal, Anouck, Lily Jean, Bamboo Blond, DindaRella, Innuendo, Religion, Body & Soul, Buddha Wear, M. Harcourt, Pura Vida, and Uma & Leopold to name but a few. Kids fashion stores include Kidsagogo and Kiki's Closet. For art lovers, galleries worth visiting in Seminyak include Randelli Gallery, Biasa and Kendra.
- It's possible to walk the sands of Seminyak's Petitenget beach all the way to Kuta in the south, or north to Canggu. The beach is more popular with locals than tourists (not safe for swimming in most sections), but is a great spot for building sandcastles or to watch the sunset as you sip a cocktail from one of the many beachside bars.
- In-villa beauty and massage treatments carried out by professional therapists can be arranged at the villa, but if you'd prefer to visit one of Seminyak's spas, we recommend: Bodyworks (quality treatments at very reasonable prices - a favourite with Bali's expats); Callego (a casual massage centre with a small restaurant attached); Chill (super reflexology treatments - great for jetlag); Prana Spa for Ayurvedic treatments.
- Pura Petitenget at the beachside off Jalan Petitenget is a compact, pretty Balinese temple, which is known for particularly spectacular ceremonies. There has been a temple here since at least the 16th century, and although this is not one of the key nine directional temples of Bali, it is an important link in the series of west coast temples between PuraUluwatu and Pura Tanah Lot.
- Make a pilgrimage to sacred Pura Tanah Lot, one of Bali's biggest tourist magnets. Perched high on a craggy, wave-lashed rock, this ancient sea temple is best savoured at sunset; be sure to receive a blessing from the Hindu Priests (and watch out for the monkeys, who are very adept at helping themselves to anything from snacks to sunglasses and even cameras!)
- Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.
- Drive westwards to explore the charming Tabanan Regency, revealing terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains and black-sand beaches dotted with fishing communities. Or head north to explore the volcanic lakes near the mountain town of Bedugul, including Lake Bratan with its photogenic and stunningly positioned PuraUlun Danu ? one of Bali's most important temples.
- With its warm seas, amost year round season, relatively uncrowded beach and reef breaks and suitability for all levels of experience, Bali surfing is world-renowned.
- Discover Bali's lakes, volcanoes, forests and beaches on the back of a Harley Davidson bike with Island Biker Tours. Full day Harley tours, customised tours or shorter joy rides can all be accommodated.
- Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
Services included
Exclusive use of the villa and all its facilities, including the services of a staff team including villa manager, chef, villa attendants. Daily breakfast, Canggu Club membership facilities for guests, 8 hour car & driver at a special daily rate.
Additional Notes
Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus... and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.Villa Adasa is a great villa for families. As the swimming pool borders the living pavilion, it's easy to keep an eye on the kids as they cavort in the pool (pool noodles provided!). And they'll love the freedom of their own garden bedrooms.
The team of friendly staff at Villa Adasa will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).
Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. The chef can also customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.
And don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need; anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot and highchair) we can hire on your behalf.
Dining
Villa Adasa's fully equipped kitchen is staffed by a superb private chef - a jewel in the villas crown. The villa's priced menu offers everything from snacks to lunches to five-course dinners and seafood barbecues. Afternoon canapés and G&T's by the pool are a specialty.Being in Bali, this is a good opportunity to try favourite Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mie Goreng (fried noodles), or Soto Ayam (spicy chicken soup), as well as Nasi Campur - the everyday Balinese meal that can be customised to suit the occasion. Nasi Campur is comprised of rice and a selection of vegetables, meat or fish and other accompaniments that might include egg, tofu, and the fried soybean cakes known as 'tempe'. Another 'must try' is Rendang Daging - a famous Indonesian delicacy created from succulent chunks of beef stewed in coconut cream and spices.
Guests are welcome to join the chef on shopping trips to the local markets - including the Jimbaran seafood market - and are encouraged to speak with him with regards meal options, specific dietary requirements and any special requests they may have during their stay.
Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of your own villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu.Balinese massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet that correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
