Overview

Internationally acclaimed and award-winning Indonesian architect Budi Pradono has created a villa that beautifully combines cutting edge, contemporary design with relaxed tropical living.

Spend lazy days by the 25-metre emerald green swimming pool, the heady scent of frangipani drifting on the breeze. Work out in the gym and then relax with friends and family around the state-of-the-art barbecue, or enjoy a more formal feast at the party-size dining table, prepared by our top-class private chef. Catch up on the latest movies in front of the 55-inch TV in the stylish monochrome lounge room, or simply kick back on the super-comfortable couches and browse a book as you listen to chill-out tunes on the Bose sound system. And when it's time for sunset cocktails, head up to the funky timber 'bridge' which extends over the pool from the villa's upper-floor deck.

A conversation about Villa Issi wouldn't be complete without mention of the innovative metal 'skin?' that surrounds the two bedrooms on the top floor. Not only is it functional, providing shade and keeping the rooms incredibly cool, it is a piece of kinetic art in its own right, the travelling sun creating interesting shadows and casting soft, diffused light.

Villa Issi overflows with aesthetic touches that infuse every stay with personal pleasure: the whimsical fibre-glass bull that takes pride of place in the garden, the unique artworks that have been specifically commissioned and the vibrant soft furnishings, designed and printed by the owners. You will also be looked after, 24 hours a day, by an incredible team of staff, including your highly trained private chef.

The villa is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in one of Seminyak's most sought after locations, and you won't have to go far from your serene haven to find the best restaurants, shops, bars and cafes, with the sweeping expanse of Seminyak beach just moments away.

Accommodation

Stepping through the gate and into Villa Issi's serene garden, interest is immediately drawn to the striking white steel and wood screen that wraps the villa's two upper-floor bedrooms and the timber 'bridge' that extends out over the pool. The ground floor of the villa comprises the chic contemporary lounge, dining room and kitchen, while outside, the barbecue dining area overlooks the 25-metre swimming pool, and a two-bedroom guest pavilion and stand-alone gym rest among the tropical plants and ancient frangipani trees.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

All Villa issi's well-appointed bedrooms are air-conditioned and feature luxurious ensuite bathrooms, 32-inch television screens with DVD players and Bose surround-sound.

Master Bedroom

Located on the upper floor of the main villa, Villa Issi's elegant master bedroom boasts recycled teak flooring and stunning black-and-white artwork. This king-bedded room has a large dressing area and its enormous grey terrazzo bathroom has a freestanding tub as well as indoor and outdoor rain showers.

Study Bedroom

The study bedroom, which is accessed via the upper-floor deck, boasts a king-size bed, a desk running the length of one wall, a large walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom fitted with a rain shower.

Guest Pavilion

Villa Issi's guest pavilion is located in the garden and overlooks the pool. Its two identical bedrooms feature king-size beds, honey blonde teakwood floors and ensuite garden bathrooms with rain showers and romantic bathtubs for two. A terrace at the front of the bedrooms has a covered seating area furnished with beanbag chairs and daybeds, making this the perfect getaway spot.

Living & Dining Areas

Kick back and relax on the sofas and ottomans in Villa Issi's stylish lounge. A fabulous zebra skin rug, bright cushions and quirky artworks decorate this comfortable, light and airy room which features a 55-inch satellite television, DVD player, iPod dock, and a Bose sound system that is wired to work throughout the building and can be controlled from each room. A sliding door separating the lounge from the dining area can be opened up to make one large open plan living space. The dining area has a blonde wood table with seating for ten and overlooks the state-of-the-art, stainless steel kitchen. The lounge, kitchen and dining area all have floor-to-ceiling glass doors, which can be opened or closed at your discretion.

Bali's climate lends itself to outdoor living and there are plenty of spaces to enjoy the tropical lifestyle at Villa Issi. For relaxed dining look no further than the barbecue area in the garden with seating for eight and a top-of-the-range gas-fired barbecue. The 'bridge' deck above the pool is the perfect space to relax on a beanbag and read a magazine but when the sun goes down, this is a spectacular spot to enjoy a cocktail with friends.

Activities

Villa Issi's manager will have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area; many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.

In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.

  • Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should wander around Seminyak, Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, chic boutiques. For furniture, antiques and homeware stores go for a wander around the streets of nearby Kerobokan.

  • It's possible to walk the grey sands of Seminyak's Petitenget beach all the way to Kuta in the south, or north to Canggu. The beach is more popular with locals than tourists (not safe for swimming in most sections), but is a great spot for building sandcastles or to watch the sunset as you sip a cocktail from one of the many beachside bars.

  • You could eat out at a different restaurant in Seminyak every night - for months - and still not run out of options. Jalan Laksmana (also known as Jalan Oberoi and Jalan Kayu Aya) is Bali?s fashionable 'Eat Street', offering plenty of high-end restaurants including Sarong and Nutmegs at Hu'u Bar. La Lucciola Restaurant is great for sunset drinks, as is The Breeze at The Samaya. While Ku Dé Ta is still the place to see and be seen, two new beachclubs, Cocoon and Potato Head, are classy seaside alternatives.

  • Pura Petitenget at the beachside off Jalan Petitenget is a compact, pretty Balinese temple, which is known for particularly spectacular beach-side ceremonies. There has been a temple here since at least the 16th century, and although this is not one of the key nine directional temples of Bali, it is an important link in the series of west coast temples between Pura Uluwatu and Pura Tanah Lot.

  • In-villa beauty and massage treatments carried out by professional therapists can normally be arranged with ease, but if you'd prefer to visit one of Seminyak's spas, we recommend: Bodyworks (quality treatments at very reasonable prices - a favourite with Bali's expats); Callego (a casual massage centre with a small restaurant attached); Chill (super reflexology treatments - great for jetlag); Prana Spa for Ayurvedic treatments.

  • Learn the secrets of Balinese spices and cuisine during a cookery class at Saté Bali Restaurant on Jalan Kayu Aya in Seminyak. At the end of the three hour course sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labours.

  • Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A grest family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.

  • If you've always dreamed of galloping along a beach or riding through villages bordered by rice fields, now's your chance. Bali Horse Adventure and Kuda P Stables (both in Pererenan) can arrange horse riding tours, as well as children's riding lessons and horse-drawn carriage outings.

  • If you are a bold and brave bargain hunter, a spree within the heart of Bali's bustling provincial capital is an exciting and rewarding experience. Visit Denpasar's vibrant markets, where everything and anything is available.

  • Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.

  • Dine out a the fabulous 'Petitenget', a iconic bar and restaurant on Jalan Petitenget, perfect for a casual lunch with the family or evening sophistication with cocktails and friends.

Services included

Exclusive use of the villa and all its facilities, including the services of a villa manager, chef and villa attendants. Breakfast is included, as is tea and coffee.

Additional Notes

Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus - and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

The team of friendly staff at Villa Issi will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you - just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Toasties for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children?s taste buds.

Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot and high chair) we can hire on your behalf.

And when the excitement of exploring the villa starts to wear off, check out our Things to do page - there's plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.

Dining
Villa Issi's highly experienced and skilled personal chef is at your service to prepare all meals.

Complimentary daily breakfast is included in the villa rate and a menu system is in place featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes. Choose from a selection of snacks, burgers, pasta and sandwiches as well as tasty Indonesian meals such as beef rendang, satay and nasi goreng (fried rice) and the very delicious lemongrass crème brulee for dessert.

Alternatively, the chef can prepare a feast on the villa's barbecue using the finest meats and seafood, and is happy to tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements. In this case, food and other supplies will be purchased by the chef and charged to guests at the end of your stay.

Gym

A separate building in Villa Issi's garden houses the gym, equipped with treadmill, exercise bike and fitball, plus a 32-inch television and iPod dock. The gym has its own bathroom with shower.

SPA
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of your own villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:

Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet corresponding to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
