Overview
Villa Jajaliluna is a hidden paradise within the vibrant and upmarket neighbourhood of Seminyak, on Bali's south-west coast. Just a stone's throw from the beach and a multitude of fine restaurants and bars, this four-bedroom villa is the ultimate location for those wanting to be close to the action but also seeking a quiet place to chill out and relax.
Luminous with a white facade, French-style shutters, terrazzo tiles, Palimanan stone surrounds and bengkirai wood floors, the villa combines modern and colonial architecture to create a tropical oasis. Inspiration is drawn from the island itself ? the beautiful light and colours, exotic flora, vibrant culture and local artisans.
Built around a dazzling T-shaped swimming pool, the villa is practical and compact but offers plenty of space with three separate living areas, an open-plan kitchen and dining room, pool deck, outdoor dining terrace and four air-conditioned bedrooms with large ensuite bathrooms.
To complement the villa, guests are treated to five-star service from two butlers, housekeepers and an experienced in-house chef. Whether it's mixing cocktails by the pool, preparing an outdoor seafood barbecue, arranging a private yoga class or playing a game of Nintendo Wii with the kids, Villa Jajaliluna's warm and friendly staff will do their utmost to make you feel at home.
Should a change of scene be sought, guests are also offered complimentary membership at Bali's premier private members club, The Canggu Club, which has world-class sporting facilities, fun activities for the kids, and a choice of venues for dining and relaxing.
Accommodation
Designed by acclaimed Bali-based company Glen Parker Architects, this symmetrical villa combines crisp modern lines with traditional finishes to create a chic and elegant home.
Guests enter the villa via a Palimanan stone walkway bordered by high walls and hibiscus which leads to a large wooden cantilevered door and a compact garden courtyard. Stepping stones traverse a pond flanked either side by fire bowls and a small lawn planted with coconut trees, to present a central T-shaped swimming pool and Jajaliluna's three living pavilions.
Closest to the entrance lies the open-plan living/kitchen pavilion which overlooks the pool deck. Symmetrically opposite is the media room and outdoor dining terrace. The main two-storey pavilion, comprising four bedrooms and two living areas, languishes along the far side of the pool, facing west to maximise the sunset views.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Housed in the main two-storey pavilion with it's traditional wood-shingled roof, whitewashed walls, ironwood floors and white French shutters, all four light and airy bedrooms are cooled by air-conditioners and ceiling fans and open onto ? or overlook ? the swimming pool.
Master bedroom
From its poolside position on the ground floor, the stunning master suite features a king-size bed draped with mosquito netting and is beautifully decorated with bright green, yellow and pink cushions that contrast beautifully against crisp white linens.
A frosted glass door slides open to reveal a huge ensuite bathroom with a walk-in rain shower, twin marble vanities and a walled garden that boasts a second rain shower and a large terrazzo bathtub for starlit bathing.
Guest rooms
The two king-bedded guest rooms (one on the ground floor and the other directly above) are similar in design and accented with pink and green fabric which injects splashes of colour against the whitewashed walls. Opening onto the pool deck, the ground floor room features a mosaic-tiled ensuite bathroom with a small walled garden, a bathtub and an open-air shower. The upstairs guestroom, which opens onto a balcony overlooking the pool, is furnished with a super-king-size bed and a white-upholstered leather armchair. The ensuite bathroom features a walk-in rain shower and grey marble vanity which opens onto a balcony at the rear.
Fourth bedrooms
The fourth bedroom is also located on the upper floor; accessed from the TV lounge. With mezzanine-style bunks above twin beds, this room is ideal for children, but is also suitable for a couple or a family with two children as the twin beds can easily be converted to a king. The ensuite bathroom is fitted with a walk-in rain shower and grey marble vanity opening onto a rear balcony.
Living & Dining Areas
Indoor living
Main pavilion living areasJajaliluna's two-storey pavilion features two living areas where guests can unwind and relax. The downstairs lounge opens widely onto a timber deck bordering the pool but can be closed off in inclement weather. With cool terrazzo floors, ceiling fan, rattan sofa and comfortable arm chairs, this is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy your favourite music on the Denon sound system. To the rear of the lounge is a small walled garden with a cascading water-wall that creates a soothing ambiance.
A Palimanan stone staircase with glass balustrade leads to the mezzanine TV lounge. Equipped with an L-shaped white leather sofa, beanbags, ceiling fan, a large flat-screen satellite TV, DVD player and Nintendo Wii, this makes a great space for the kids to hang out. This room also opens onto the balcony overlooking the pool.
Media room
The villa's media room is housed in a single-storey poolside pavilion, characterised by an ironwood floor and vaulted roof. Bi-fold doors on three sides can be opened to enjoy the natural breeze or closed for air-conditioned comfort. Equipped with a 42-inch satellite TV, DVD player, Denon surround-sound system and movie box, this is the spot to enjoy a film while relaxing on the deep-cushioned sofas. One wall is fitted with bamboo cupboards and shelves stocked with books and artefacts, while twin alcoves showcase white Buddha-head statues resting on pedestals.
Kitchen/dining pavilion
Opposite the media room, across the pool, lies the open-plan kitchen/dining pavilion. The predominately white kitchen is fitted with a stainless steel oven and stove, wok burner, large fridge, coffee machine and microwave, and features a teak bar with six bar stools where guests can sit and sip cocktails while the chef prepares dinner. This pavilion also offers a choice of fan-cooled tropical living or enclosed air-conditioned comfort.
The dining area is furnished with a fabulous square dining table (seats eight) and opens out onto the poolside deck. One wall features numerous artefacts, a cigar box (stocked for guest enjoyment) and a blue and white painted boat named 'Jajaliluna'.
Outdoor living
The dazzling T-shaped swimming pool with cool aquamarine and cobalt blue ceramic tiles forms the focal point of the villa and is fitted with recessed lights to create a lovely night-time ambiance.Four separate poolside areas cater for different moods: for sun seekers, the Palimanan stone sun terrace is furnished with loungers and umbrellas; for reading or socialising, a timber deck is shaded by sails and furnished with two round rattan sofas; for outdoor dining, the white washed teak dining table and barbecue await, and for those that wish to doze there's a sheltered daybed, guarded by two Thai statues.
The well-kept garden courtyard features bougainvillea, frangipani trees, coconut palms, native ginger and a small lawn. An outdoor shower is convenient for rinsing off after a swim in the pool or a trip to the beach.

Activities
Villa Jajaliluna's manager, Wayan, has a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.
In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.
- Bali boasts hundreds of ancient temples (pura): at Petitenget Beach entrance (1km), Pura Dalem Petitenget appears unassuming, but is actually one of the island's key temples, with sixteenth century origins. Considered sacred (and associated with ghostly tales), visitors should be respectfully attired to enter. Regular colourful ceremonies are held here, or on the holy area of beach opposite.
- Stylish nightspots are within staggering distance, located both in Petitenget and Seminyak. Amongst all the hip bars, don't miss one of Asia's most famed beach clubs, Ku Dé Ta, on Seminyak beachfront ? an absolute must for sunset cocktails. Seminyak also boasts superb shopping, with designer boutiques, antique stores, art galleries and more.
- Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
- Jet-lagged and can't sleep? Need to glam-up before a big night out or pamper yourself after one? Jajaliluna is surrounded by world-class spas but Away Spa, at W Retreat Bali, a short stroll away, is one of Bali's most glamorous and lavish, and is open 24 hours a day.
- A string of beaches renowned for their excellent surf breaks are easily accessible along this south-west coastline and are all in prime position for fabulous sunsets. Head to legendary surfer's haunt, Echo Beach (8km) which conveniently provides post-surf sunset drinking.
- Alternatively, if you want to learn to surf, head down to the Double Six section of Legian Beach, home to Rip Curl School of Surf. With the surf school's long experience and Legian's manageable waves and warm, sandy-bottomed seas, this is a great spot for novice surfers, and for excellent brunches at one of the beachfront restaurants.
- Bali's original horse riding stables (established 1995), Umalas Equestrian Resort, is just five kilometres north of the villa. These renowned stables offer small group horse-riding tours through the area's picturesque rice-fields and farming villages and along nearby Batubelig Beach, as well as children's pony rides.
- Adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers can get their fix white water rafting down the Ayung River north of Ubud, while culture vultures can head into Ubud's town centre and explore the traditional market and wonderful art galleries.
- Make the de rigueur pilgrimage to sacred Pura Tanah Lot (18km), one of Bali's biggest tourist magnets. Perched high on a craggy wave-lashed rock, this ancient sea temple is best savoured at sunset; make sure you receive a blessing from the resident Hindu Priests.
- To escape the crowds, drive westwards past Tanah lot, heading for the relatively unchartered West Bali region. Here, the charming Tabanan Regency reveals terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains and black sand beaches dotted with fishing communities ? archetypal landscape for which Bali is famed.
- Bali Treetop Adventure Park is near the town of Bedugal in northern central Bali (next to Lake Bratan). Five adventure circuits, with heights ranging from two to 20 metres, challenge all level and ages on suspended bridges, spider nets, Tarzan jumps and 12 flying foxes.
- Pulau Dive Charters offers luxury boat charters around the beautiful islands and waters surrounding Bali. They specialise in private fishing, surfing and diving charters and also offer unique personalised day trips to Nusa Lembongan. Perfect for a family day out on the water or with a group of friends.

Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.Villa Jajaliluna is a great villa for families. With a large swimming pool, media room with movie hard drive, and Nintendo Wii in the upstairs TV lounge, children will be kept well entertained. And the bunk bedroom, which can sleep up to four children, is bound to be popular.
The team of friendly staff at Villa Jajaliluna will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Popcorn and hotdogs with a movie? No problem.

Dining
Villa Jajaliluna's private chef is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. The villa offers an extensive suggestion menu of delicious home-style meals featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes, with an excellent selection of vegetarian and children's options. And a stay at Jajaliluna is certainly not complete without a seafood barbecue served on the poolside dining terrace.

Groceries and beverages are charged at cost price plus 20% handling fee which is subject to service charge and government tax. Guests will be requested to provide grocery money in advance and the staff will do the shopping for you and keep the receipts for your reference.
Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of the villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what?s on the menu:Massage
Spoil yourself and release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage by the pool or in the sunset balé. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
