Activities

Villa Lilibel's manager will have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.

In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.

  • Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics will love exploring Seminyak, Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, chic boutiques selling designer ware and hand-crafted jewellery. Exotic homewares are also a Balinese specialty, from gorgeous ceramics, to embroidered furnishings and all manner of ethnic curios and decorative pieces.
  • You could eat out at a different restaurant in Seminyak every night ? for months ? and still not run out of options. Jalan Laksmana (also known as Jalan Oberoi and Jalan Kayu Aya) is Bali's fashionable ?Eat Street', offering plenty of high-end restaurants including Sarong and Teatro Gastroteque. Ku Dé Ta is still the place to see and be seen at sunset, while two newer beach clubs, Cocoon and Potato Head, offer classy seaside alternatives. Then there's La Plancha, a rustic beach bar between Double Six and Gado Gado, which is very popular with good tapas, reasonably priced drinks, live music and DJ events. A short taxi ride will bring you to Sardine, Métis and Naughty Nuri's Batubelig, famous for barbecue ribs and wicked Martinis.
  • Learn the secrets of Balinese spices and cuisine during a cookery class at Saté Bali Restaurant located near to the villa on Jalan Kayu Aya in Seminyak. At the end of the three hour course sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labours.
  • If you are a bold and brave bargain hunter, a spree within the heart of Bali's bustling provincial capital is an exciting and rewarding experience. Visit Denpasar's vibrant markets, where everything and anything is available. Pasar Badung, Denpasar's colourful central market, is the largest and oldest market in Bali. Kumbasari Market is another rabbit warren of small shops specialising in paintings, handicrafts, souvenirs, artefacts, clothes, fabrics, gold work and other art market goods. Jalan Sulawesi is the place for textiles, and Jalan Hasanudin is the glittering locale for Bali's gold shops.
  • To witness one of Bali's spectacular sunsets, head down to Canggu Beach (8km) where cafés offer good views and cold beer. The atmospheric Warung Kakilima is a great spot for kids with its rolling lawns and trampoline, while Old Man's has a relaxed Sydney-style beer garden, casual meals and live music on the weekend. Hotel Tugu, a very stylish and eclectic boutique hotel is just a hundred metres further up the road and was created by one of Indonesia's premier art collectors, and provides a range of atmospheric dining experiences.
  • Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia. The twelth hole is one of the most photographed in the world, as it overlooks the famous Tanah Lot temple.
  • Acclaimed as the world's best, the atmospheric Elephant Safari Park in Taro (north of Ubud) provides a sanctuary for elephants rescued from Sumatra, with opportunities for trekking, hand feeding, and photo taking. There is also a fascinating museum and an excellent restaurant in a beautiful tropical setting deep in the forests of Bali's hinterland.
  • Bali Treetop Adventure Park is near the town of Bedugal in northern central Bali (next to Lake Bratan). Five adventure circuits, with heights ranging from two to 20 metres, challenge all level and ages on suspended bridges, spider nets, Tarzan jumps and 12 flying foxes.
  • Explore the scenic rice-field landscape and rural villages by bicycle; a great way to get under the skin of the ?real' Bali. Stop off at a local warung (local café) to sample some basic Balinese fare or cool off with a cold drink. A number of operators, including Bali Adventure tours offer ?downhill cycling' tours starting from the cool climes of Bali's mountainous hinterland.
  • Desa Seni at Berawa Beach, is an eco-friendly village resort providing an authentic Indonesian experience through the exploration of culture, art and yoga. The resort offers a wide variety of yoga classes and also has its own holistic spa and restaurant serving gourmet organic food, most of which is grown in the resorts extensive gardens.

Additional Notes

Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

Villa Lilibel is a great villa for families with children of all ages. Young children will love the shallow wading area in the swimming pool and the easy access to the beach (make sure to always swim between the flags as currents can be strong). Those with toddlers can organise an optional pool fence (charges apply), and the central layout of the villa makes it easy to keep an eye on children. Older kids and teenagers will enjoy the PlayStation and having the excitement of Seminyak within walking distance.

The team of friendly staff will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Cheese toasties by the pool for breakfast? Chicken nuggets for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.

Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot, highchair, and kids movies) we can hire on your behalf.

Dining
Villa Lilibel's chef is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. Villa Lilibel offers an extensive priced menu of delicious meals featuring Asian and Western dishes to cater to all tastes, including an excellent selection of vegetarian and children's options. The chef can also grill up a feast of fresh seafood and Balinese delights such as grilled tuna with Balinese sauce in banana leaf, minced snapper in lemon grass, and sate babi (pork satay served with a range of zesty sambals.)

Poolside snacks are available, and the chef will tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements or specific requests. A generous daily breakfast is included in your stay, with western, healthy and Indonesian choices. Cocktails, beers, soft drinks and small selection of fine Australian wine and champagne are also available.

Spa Services & Gym
Fitness fanatics will love the air conditioned gym and the chance to work out on state-of-the-art equipment while enjoying lush garden views. Fitted with a good selection of professional Precor equipment, including a bench with an extensive array of weights, elliptical machine, exercise bike, tread mill and wall-mounted TV.

Fancy a body scrub or massage; just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in Villa Lilibel's air-conditioned spa room or by the pool by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:

Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
