Overview

Welcome to Villa Shinta Dewi, where tropical living is the theme, with semi-alfresco living and dining spaces, and four air-conditioned bedrooms situated around an 11-metre swimming pool and a charming flower-filled garden complete the picture.

Stay at Shinta Dewi, and you can spend your days lazing beside the pool and being waited upon by our lovely team of staff, including a manager, personal butlers and chef. If you're feeling a little bit more energetic, you can work out in the villa's private gym, enjoy the pampering diversion of an in-villa massage, or stroll down to Petitenget Beach, which is a mere five-minute walk away.

Our elegant holiday villa is a true haven-away-from-home, hidden within an elite gated estate, yet everything for which Seminyak is so famous is just a stone's throw away. Not only the beach but also a multitude of international and local restaurants ranging from simple cafes to world-renowned fine-dining establishments, as well as beachclubs, nightclubs and shops galore. At the end of your busy day out, return to Shinta Dewi, and our butlers will serve afternoon cocktails in the glorious sunset lounge, from where you will get a rooftop view of the setting sun. Later our in-house chef will prepare a five-star dinner in the immaculate white kitchen. Relish these home-cooked international and local specialties in the semi-open-air dining room and then head into the cool interior of our air-conditioned TV room to watch a movie on the big screen. Finally, slip between the sheets of a big comfortable bed and fall into a blissful sleep. Such is a typical day at Villa Shinta Dewi.

Accommodation

Villa Shinta Dewi comprises a single-storey building and two double-storey buildings surrounding a pretty garden and 11-metre swimming pool. On one side is the master bedroom, complete with an ensuite bathroom, as well as a communal study/TV room and a small but well-equipped gym. Opposite this is a semi-open-air dining room and gourmet kitchen with a rooftop sunset lounge above. Completing the circle is the two-storey bedroom pavilion housing two rooms on the upper floor, and one on the ground floor alongside an open-air sitting room and guest washroom.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

All four of the bedrooms at Villa Shinta Dewi are extremely well appointed, with marble floors, top class amenities and superior comforts. Named after flowering tropical plants and trees, all are equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, as well as TVs and DVD players discretely hidden in wall cabinets.

Master Alamanda Suite

The Master Alamanda Suite enjoys pride of place on the ground floor next to the pool. This regal room will entice guests with its king-size bed and its soft green décor with splashes of red. Adjoining the bedroom is a dressing area and a bathroom fashioned in marble with a jacuzzi tub for two overlooking a heliconia garden and a romantic open-air rain shower.

Heliconia and Frangipani Suites

These two colonial-styled, timber-clad rooms are mirror images of each other, with king-size beds and window shutters that can be thrown open to enjoy views of the pool through the canopy of the garden's tall frangipani trees. The Heliconia Suite is decorated in shades of orange while Frangipani is outfitted in green. Built-in wardrobes showcase latticed sliding doors inspired by the rice-paper shoji screens of traditional Japanese architecture, and ensuite bathrooms are fitted with rain showers.

Melati Suite

The Melati Suite contains twin beds that easily convert to a king-size. Elegantly furnished in greens and beige with marble floors, it has two doorways, one leading out to the covered terrace and another providing a shortcut to the pool through the garden. There's also storage space aplenty and an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower.

Living & Dining Areas

Sunset lounge

Above the dining room is a delightful, open-sided rooftop lounge, sheltered by a soaring roof and furnished with couches and easy chairs. From here, guests can relish views of the garden, the pool and the setting sun. Cooling sea breezes aid the pendulous ceiling fans, and to one side is a compact rooftop garden furnished with tables and chairs.

Dining room and kitchen

Looking out over the pool and garden is the open-sided dining room, cooled by ceiling fans and furnished with a grand wooden table that can seat up to 12 people.  From here guests can watch the professional chef at work in the modern and well-equipped gourmet kitchen, which is immaculately outfitted in white.

Sitting room

On the ground floor of the sleeping pavilion, and open on two sides to the garden and pool, this cosy sitting area provides a quiet spot for relaxing with a drink and a book. A guest washroom is located next to the sitting room, and a daybed provides a private corner a few metres away.

Study/ Bed 5

Next to the master bedroom, and reached through a door adjoining the master bathroom, is the air-conditioned study and TV lounge, which doubles as an extra bedroom ideally suited for children. This room is dominated by a massive 52-inch flat-screen TV and is also equipped with a DVD player, two-seat sofa and a desk.

Location

Villa Shinta Dewi is part of the secure and exclusive Laksmana enclave, in the fashionable Petitenget area, just 500 metres from the beach on the northern boundary of Seminyak. Activities

Your villa manager will have a wealth of information about places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do ask the staff about the area too; most will live nearby and can give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of local Bali life.

In the meantime, here's a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of Villa Shinta Dewi

  • Fashionistas, trendies and shop-a-holics should hot-foot it down to Seminyak, Bali's most cosmopolitan enclave. Here, you can indulge for hours in the glut of stylish, chic boutiques. There is a wide choice of fine dining, mid range, and cheap ?n cheerful restaurants in Seminyak too: fine dining venues include Sarong, the famous Ku Dé Ta, Mama San, La Lucciola, Petitenget, Merah Putih, Sardine and Métis.
  • It's possible to walk the sands of Seminyak's Petitenget Beach all the way to Kuta in the south, or north to Canggu. The beach is more popular with locals than tourists (not safe for swimming in most sections), but is a great spot for building sandcastles or to watch the sunset as you sip a cocktail from one of the many beachside bars.
  • A nice sunset alternative is to head down to Echo Beach (11km) where a number of cafes offer good sunset views and cold beer. Note that the beach here is dark sand and the waters are better suited to surfing, having a pronounced swell and rip, rather than children's swimming. Hotel Tugu, a very stylish and eclectic boutique hotel a few minutes further down the coast is also a good sunset spot, or try the more casual cafe across the road; Old Man's for alfresco all day dining
  • Villa Shinta Dewi is close to the famous temple at Tanah Lot (16 km), although in peak season a few too many tourists may transform a sunset visit into more of a heaving photo opportunity than a moving experience. Visiting early in the morning (8-9am) provides a better idea of the power of the location and the chance to see it undisturbed apart from perhaps an offering ceremony.
  • Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.
  • Drive westwards to explore the charming Tabanan regency, revealing terraced rice fields of emerald green, volcanic mountains and black-sand beaches dotted with fishing communities. Or head north to explore the volcanic lakes near the mountain town of Bedugul, including Lake Bratan with its photogenic and stunningly positioned Pura Ulun Danu ? one of Bali's most important temples.
  • Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
  • Bali Treetop Adventure Park is near the town of Bedugal in northern central Bali (next to Lake Bratan). Five adventure circuits, with heights ranging from two to 20 metres, challenge all level and ages on suspended bridges, spider nets, Tarzan jumps and 12 flying foxes.

Services included

Exclusive use of the whole villa and the services of its team of staff, including villa manager, housekeepers and night time security. All villa facilities, including private swimming pool and unlimited WiFi internet. Airport transfers and daily breakfast.

Additional Notes

Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus ? and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

Villa Shinta Dewi is a great villa for families with older children: those with toddlers will need to be vigilant, however, due to the villa's staircases and swimming pool.

The team of friendly staff at Villa Shinta Dewi will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Baked beans for breakfast? Chicken nuggets for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.

Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot, highchair, baby bath and children's cutlery and plates) we can hire on your behalf

Dining
Your personal chef at Villa Shinta Dewi is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dining works on a restaurant system with a priced menu offering a wide array of Western and Asian dishes available anytime of the day, whilst daily breakfast is included.

We recommend you to try some of the chef's special Indonesian and Balinese dishes for a true cultural experience. Vegetarian and children's dishes are also included in the menu, and if you have any special dietary requirements, please feel free to ask the chef, who will strive to comply with all of your wishes. Likewise, if you have any requests for a special feast such as seafood barbecue, the famous Balinese delicacy of babi guling (spit-roast pig) or roast duck, or even a birthday cake, you will simply need to consult with the chef up to one day beforehand and all will be taken care of.

Gym
Fancy an early morning workout? Tucked away in a corner of the garden next to the study is the gym with a treadmill, a cross trainer and a weight bench accompanied by a full set of barbells. There's a TV to entertain you while you're working out and a full-length mirror along one wall. The room has sliding French doors along two walls, which can be thrown open to allow the fresh air to circulate. Alternatively, for a gentler form of exercise, you can do some yoga stretches. In-villa private yoga sessions can also be arranged ? please speak with the villa manager.

Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of Villa Shinta Dewi by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:

Spa
Balinese massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Manicure/Pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.

Canggu club
Complimentary Guest Membership of the Canggu Club

As well as having access to their own exclusive leisure facilities at Dea Villas during their stay, guests also enjoy membership benefits at Bali's premier private members club, Canggu Club.

The Canggu Club, which opened in 2006 and luxuriates across 4,000 square metres of land set amongst the picturesque rice fields of Canggu, is just ten minutes north of Seminyak. The family-oriented club offers world class sporting facilities, fun activities for the kids, and a choice of venues for dining and relaxing.

A Colonial style clubhouse forms the club's centrepiece. The library offers a quiet, cool haven for reading or working (free WiFi internet access is widely available at the club), while meals, coffee, drinks and sunset cocktails can be enjoyed at a choice of alfresco and air conditioned dining venues. Kids of all ages are specifically catered for at two kids clubs (The Rainbow Room for 2-6 year olds and D'Joglo for 7 years plus) and also at the kids splash pool set amongst the club's lush tropical gardens.

The club arguably has the best sporting facilities in Bali, with a large, well-equipped gym and separate exercise room, a 25-metre swimming pool, a floodlit professionally turfed sports field, and a tennis centre with four tennis courts (two of which are indoor), two air-conditioned squash courts and two table tennis tables.

To enjoy complimentary guest access to the Canggu Club, just present the club identity card, which is available from your villa manager. Also, feel free to ask the villa manager during your stay the special perks and privileges of the club membership.
