Overview
Designed to merge perfectly with its dramatic coastal setting, the magnificent five-bedroom Bayuh Sabbha employs a delightful mix of limestone, teakwood and alang-alang thatch, blending traditional architecture and antique elements. The main three-bedroomed villa and a two-bedroomed guesthouse, each with its own swimming pool, laze luxuriously amongst the tropical cliff-top gardens creating a holiday villa with style and personality.
Bayuh Sabbha was one of the first properties to be built along this spectacular, arid coast, and ten years on the maturity of the villa is one of its greatest assets. With its meticulously manicured lawns interspersed with ancient, gnarled frangipani trees and brilliant bougainvillea blooms, the villa boasts a patina that comes with time, creating an elegance that most modern villas cannot match. Neither can many hold a candle to Bayuh Sabbha's luxurious three acres of land. They just don't build villas on this kind of scale any more.
Airy and spacious bedrooms, living and dining areas present soaring ceilings, polished wood and marble floors, wide verandas, solid teak furniture, an eclectic mix of classical art, sculpture and rustic objects, and floor-to-ceiling windows that embrace the breezes and the splendid views.
Wake up early to catch intrepid surfers riding the waves of Bingin beach before heading for a workout in the air-conditioned gym or a game on the private tennis court. While away the day lounging alongside one of the villas two pools or relaxing with a book in the comfortable wantilan pavilion; and enjoy a refreshing cocktail or two in the sunset pavilion as the sun dips below the horizon.
Bayuh Sabbha's friendly staff team, which includes a manager and a chef who can both boast five-star hotel experience, will entice your taste buds and take care of your every holiday need. With its impressive range of facilities and space enough for all, the villa is perfect for family holidays and entertaining friends, while its extraordinary backdrop, with island and ocean views stretching from north to south, and specially designed function lawns make Bayuh Sabbha the ultimate tropical wedding venue
Accommodation
With five spacious bedrooms, formal and family-style living and dining areas, two pools and a range of five-star facilities, Bayuh Sabbha hugs the cliff, with almost every room enjoying spectacular ocean views. On a clear day, the panorama encompasses the mighty Mt Agung in north Bali, to Java's Mt Bromo in the west.
The villa is entered through an antique Balinese gateway leading to a path lined with flowering lotus ponds. The formal living area is centrally situated and overlooks the comfortable, open-sided wantlian pavilion and the main pool. To one side of the living space are the sleeping pavilions; behind is a two-storey building housing the study and TV room, and to the other side is the dining room and the gourmet kitchen.
A self-contained guesthouse, with two bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and its own infinity-edge pool, links to the house via stepping stones across another lotus pond.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Bayuh Sabbha's master suite occupies the entire second floor of one pavilion. With a wide wooden veranda that runs the length of the suite, large teak and glass doors open to the views beyond. A super-king, four-poster bed dominates the room and a comfortable sofa and a desk complete the furnishings.
The enormous walk-in dressing room with polished wood floors and a mirrored dressing table is a popular spot for brides to prepare for their weddings.
Polished floors continue into the huge bathroom, which has windows on two sides that open to the ocean breeze. A jacuzzi tub is set into a wooden platform overlooking the view while double sinks with brass taps and large ornate mirrors add a luxurious touch.
Below the master suite are two spacious and equally sized guest bedrooms. One is twin bedded and the other boasts a romantic four-poster king-size bed. Both rooms feature sliding doors onto a stone terrace with sweeping views. Decorated in elegant, classical style with antique furnishings and rustic tribal pieces, both rooms provide desks and extensive closet space. The bathrooms each feature indoor and outdoor showers, bathtubs and courtyard gardens. Brass taps and wooden dressing tables add to the luxurious look of these spacious ensuites.
Bayuh Sabbha's two-bedroom guesthouse has its own entrance and parking area and is linked to the main villa by a limestone walkway. Featuring conical thatched roofs, bleached wood furnishings and tribal art, this building has a relaxed beach-house feel. The living room overlooks the second pool and has yet more breathtaking views. A guest bathroom and a small but self-contained kitchen, equipped with a full-sized fridge, a wall oven and tea and coffee making facilities, are attached.
Flanking the open-sided living area are two circular guest rooms with king-sized beds laid with cotton sheets and local fabrics. The rooms are spacious yet cosy, with dressing areas and indoor bathrooms leading to chic garden bathrooms fitted with freestanding circular bathtubs and outdoor showers protected by thatched roofs. Brass fittings add a touch of elegance.
The guesthouse is a gorgeous addition to the main house, perfect for a family or two additional couples.
Living & Dining Areas
Indoor living
Bayuh Sabbha's main living pavilion lies at the centre of the property and is dominated by large wooden sofas topped with deep cushions in muted fabrics to match the tone of the house. An antique Chinese cabinet houses the entertainment system and the room is ornamented with some delightful art and sculptures.
To the right is the dining pavilion, furnished with a square table and 12 chairs, and with a spacious ocean-view terrace. Some more intimately sized tables and chairs make this the perfect spot to enjoy afternoon tea, evening cocktails or a casual dinner under the stars.
A large gourmet kitchen is located behind the dining pavilion and the staff will fill the fridge according to guest's shopping lists. Guests can help themselves to snacks from here, or cook up a storm should they feel so inclined, or simply leave it all to the accomplished chef.
In another building, reached by a covered wooden walkway from the sleeping pavilion of the main villa, is a study with an impressive antique desk, bookcases, dedicated internet connection and comfortable furnishings. This upstairs room, also offering sweeping views, is a perfect hideaway to catch up on messages and work quietly. Downstairs, a comfortable TV room also opens to the view. Air-conditioned and furnished with a deeply cushioned white sofa and a wall lined with bookcases, this room can be converted into an extra bedroom for children, with two single beds, and has a guest toilet.
The villa's air-conditioned gym is well equipped with top-of-the-range weights, cardio machines and a set of free weights, and features mirrored walls and a stereo system. A personal trainer is on call for those who need a little extra motivation.
Outdoor living
A large thatch-roofed Balinese wantilan, set in the gardens beside the main pool, is furnished with low, cushioned sofas. This is the ultimate relaxation area and also perfect for yoga or massage. Ceiling fans and Bose speakers enhance the ambiance.
A romantic balé lies at the far edge of the property looking towards Uluwatu and the setting sun. Put to great use during the many weddings celebrated at the villa, the sunset balé has a stone floor and thatch roof to blend with the style of the house.
Next to the gym is a children's play area with a large sand pit and swings. Parents wanting to keep fit can keep an eye on their kids at the same time.
The estate also has a full-size outdoor tennis court. Floodlit for night games, the court is another fantastic addition to the Bayuh Sabbha estate.

In the meantime, here's a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of Bayuh Sabbha.
- Among the local beaches is the famous surf beach at Uluwatu. Not a great swimming beach but fabulous cliff top location to view the surfing and enthusiasts will want to paddle out and challenge the waves. Not quite as spectacular but equally alluring are the beaches of Bingin and Padang Padang, on either side of Bayuh Sabbha. Beautiful white sand bays with rock pools and a host of local cafes. Below Bayuh Sabbha is the tiny cove of Impossibles, low tide here is fine for swimming and one local café offers simple food and juices.
- At Jenggala Keramic in Jimbaran, visitors can browse and buy from a vast range of handcrafted ceramics and glassware. Jenggala also runs ?Make and Paint a Pot' sessions where ?Children' of all ages are encouraged to get creative.
- The New Kuta Golf club is a 20-minute drive from the villa and features an 18 hole course overlooking the ocean. The adjoining beach, dreamland is suitable for the whole family for both swimming and surfing.
- Both five star and local restaurants are plentiful and close by. Almost next door, the new Anantara has opened offering great views from their Cliffside restaurant. Bulgari and Ayana resorts are among the favourites and the Rock Bar at Ayana is a must-see for sunset cocktails. Finns at Semara has a beach club for more casual dining.
- A seafood feast at Jimbaran is a must for every holiday in Bali ? dozens of seafood warung (cafés) line this west-facing beach, perfect for a sunset dinner. Fine dining options are available at most of the big resort hotels in this area; notably PJ's, the charming beachside restaurant at the Four Seasons in Jimbaran, serving Mediterranean-styled cuisine.
- Nusa Dua's Bali Collection mall has a host of local boutiques and a department store. Heading towards Kuta (about 40 minutes) brings you to Galleria shopping mall while nearby Tuban has Discovery Mall and streets lined with local shops. Seminyak boutiques are about an hour away.
- Bayuh Sabbha has a temple on the grounds which serves the local community and guests are welcome to participate in ceremonies. Uluwatu's clifftop temple is well worth a visit. Additional Notes
The Family
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus _ and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.Bayuh Sabbha was built as a family holiday home when the owners' children were young, and as a result there are lots of spaces for children to be entertained or to entertain themselves in safety, from the children's playground to the two swimming pools, extensive lawns and indoor entertainment room where children can wind down in air-conditioned comfort.
Older children will love exploring the area including the track that leads down to Impossibles Beach, a white sandy cove with clear water for swimming and surfing and a local café (warung) for juices and local food.
The team of friendly staff at Bayuh Sabbha will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).
Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Banana pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Sandwiches in the sunset balé for supper? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.
Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house we can hire on your behalf.
And when the excitement of exploring the villa starts to wear off, check out our Things to do page; there's plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.
Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of the villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here?s a sample of what?s on the menu:
Massage
Spoil yourself and release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage by the pool or in the sunset balé. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage
