Accommodation

This stunning, contemporary villa boasts a main two-storey residence and a number of single-storey pavilions spread throughout immaculate gardens with a 25-metre swimming pool at their centre. On one side of the main residence's upper floor is the master bedroom suite, which is connected to a second spacious suite via a rooftop walkway and ?sunset' terrace. Downstairs, one side of the building houses the media room, office and open-air bar, dining and living area, while on the other side, air-conditioned indoor space includes a bar, dining, lounge and kitchen.

Two interconnecting guest suites open directly onto the garden and pool and another privately faces towards the yoga room, gym and kitchen garden. The library pavilion is located at the far end of the pool, and the remaining two bedrooms lie just behind. A large poolside bale pavilion with generous lounge seating and an impressive Teppanyaki grill completes Villa Malaathina's exceptional facilities.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

The master and four of the bedroom suites have comfortable lounge or built-in sitting areas, and bedrooms 6 and 7, while smaller than the others, boast pleasant furnished outdoor terraces.

Master Suite

With stunning views over the rice paddies on one side and the swimming pool and garden on the other, Villa Malaathina's light and spacious master bedroom is the definition of luxury, and comes complete with a king-size bed, private furnished balcony and large dressing room. A soak in the enormous bathroom's granite tub, overlooking a rooftop garden dotted with splendid purple, pink and white bougainvillea, is an absolute must.

Bedroom 2

Opposite the master suite lies an equally airy and light-filled guest suite. Featuring two stunning Buddha statues, this room overlooks the tropical garden and pool and also boasts a king-size bed and a dressing room. Its delightful bathroom has views over the surrounding rice paddies.

Bedroom 3 & 4

Located alongside the swimming pool, guest suites 3 and 4 are wonderfully adaptable, as they both have twins which convert to kings . The rooms are connected by a solid teak door, which can be opened to make one big family suite. Wide glass doors open onto furnished poolside terraces.

Bedroom 5

With its traditional pitched roof made from Kalimantan wood, this king-bedded suite is situated at the far end of the garden near the yoga studio and gym, and provides a very private getaway.

Bedrooms 6 & 7

These two identical bedrooms each feature twin beds, which can be joined to make a king. Chinese inspired furnishings complete these charming rooms, which share a covered balcony with outdoor seating, offering guests a lovely space to relax.

Living & Dining Areas

The beauty of a villa this size is that there is such an abundance of space to lounge, dine, relax, socialise, exercise or simply to take some time out for yourself. Enjoy the tropical Balinese climate and relax in the open-air living, dining and bar area overlooking the swimming pool. With a stunning copper chandelier overhead, the circular dining table has seating for ten, while the living area is furnished with comfortable sofas and a chaise longue on which to read a book or magazine, or relax to your favourite music played over the Sonos sound system.

Should the air-conditioned comfort of indoor living be more to your taste, head to the lounge, with its luxurious velvet seating and strikingly backlit ?onyx' bar leading to a formal dining area with ten-seater table. Alternatively, the media room, with its 62-inch TV screen, DVD player, surround-sound system and expanse of comfortable sofa seating, offers guests a fabulous cinema-like experience.

At the far end of the pool lies the villa's impressive library. With its enormous L-shaped sofa, 43-inch television, Bose sound system, collection of books and a coffee-bar area, this room offers guests the ultimate retreat.

Perhaps the villa's most unique feature is its impressive Teppanyaki pavilion, which lies alongside the swimming pool. At one end of the pavilion is the grill itself ? imported from Europe and set within a deep-green marble counter edged by ten lime-washed rattan seats ? while at the other end a comfortable sunken lounge sits at eye level with the pool.

The generous 25-metre swimming pool forms the centerpiece of this magnificent villa. Cushioned double sun loungers arranged along the pool deck and shaded by capacious red umbrellas, make this the ideal spot to spend lazy days. Later, as the day draws to a close, head for the sunset terrace and ? cocktail in hand ? watch as the sky becomes a blaze of colour.

Activities

Villa Malaathina's manager will have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. Do also ask the staff about the local area. Many of them live nearby and will be able to give an interesting insight into some of the fascinating aspects of Bali life.

In the meantime, here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.

  • Watch a spectacular sunset at Echo Beach (7km) where a number of cafes offer great views and cold beer. Note that the beach here is dark volcanic sand and the waters are better suited to surfing, having a pronounced swell and rip, rather than children's swimming. Hotel Tugu, a very stylish and eclectic boutique hotel a few minutes further down the coast is also a good sunset spot.
  • There are several surf schools in Bali, mainly based in and around Kuta and Legian, where young and old(er) can learn to surf or brush up on their skills.
  • If you are a bold and brave bargain hunter, a shopping spree at one of the Denpasar's markets within the heart of Bali's bustling provincial capital, is an exciting and rewarding experience.
  • Swing among the trees and fly through the air at Treetop Adventure Park, or see the real Bali with a Bali Eco Cycling Tour (all downhill!) through the island's beautiful rice terraces and unspoiled villages. The drive through rural Bali is a treat in itself.
  • Cafés and restaurants in Canggu (just 3km away) are springing up at quite a rate. Try the charming Canggu Café, a great place for a light lunch (serves delicious Indonesian food and salads). Opposite the Canggu Club is a small international restaurant called The Loop, while next door and under the same management is the Canggu Deli, which stocks plenty of gourmet food items.
  • Eating out in Seminyak requires careful research and planning; there's just so much choice! Everything from fine international dining to cheap n' cheerful gourmet burgers can be had in this diners paradise.
  • Chill out completely with an in-villa massage or beauty treatment
  • Learn the secrets of Balinese spices and cuisine during a cookery class at Saté Bali Restaurant on Jalan Kayu Aya in Seminyak.
  • Covering 3.8 hectares of tropical parkland in Kuta, Waterbom Bali has 16 water slides (including The Climax with its 360 degree loop) to entertain the young and the young at heart. A great family day out, but go early to beat the crowds.
  • Play a round at the unbelievably scenic Nirwana Bali Golf Course. Bordered by ocean and rice fields and just down from Tanah Lot sea temple, no wonder this championship-standard course (designed by golf legend, Greg Norman) is frequently voted number one in Asia.
  • Get back to nature with Bali Eco Tours. Based in Ubud, they can offer anything from educational cycling tours through the rice fields, to sunrise volcano climbs. Talk to your villa manager about arranging a trip

Services included

Exclusive use of the whole villa including villa manager, private chef; swimming pool and unlimited internet access. Daily breakfast and one complimentary seven-seater car and driver up to 8 hours/day (excluding petrol).

Additional Notes

Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus - and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

Villa Malaathina is a great villa for families with young kids. As well as plenty of garden space for letting off steam, there's a shallow, shelved area at the top of the pool that's ideal for young swimmers. With a choice of big screens and great sound systems in both the library and the media room, older children will be happy too.

The team of friendly staff at Villa Malaathina will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you ? just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Toasties for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.

Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house .

Dining
The villa's staff team includes two private chefs to prepare your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. One of the highlights of a stay at Villa Malaathina is the chance to witness the chefs as they expertly slice, dice and sizzle an incredible array of meats and vegetables at the grill in the Teppanyaki pavilion.

Health-conscious guests will be delighted with the holistic and low calorie menu selections that the chef has created. Many of the vegetables used in the kitchen are grown in the villa's vegetable garden, so guests can enjoy the freshest, seasonal produce possible.

The chef is also more than happy to tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements and can also cook an extensive range of delicious home-style meals featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes, with an excellent selection of vegetarian and children's options.

Groceries and beverages are charged at cost price plus 20%. Guests will be requested to provide grocery money in advance, and the staff will do the shopping and keep the receipts for reference. To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before.

Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out on professional massage beds in the privacy of Villa Malaathina by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:

Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage by the pool. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.

Gym and Yoga
Tucked away in the far corner of the gorgeous gardens is a two-storey air-conditioned pavilion housing the villa's yoga studio and gym.

The gym is fully equipped with the latest machines from 'Life Fitness'. It has a running machine, cross trainer, bicycle, free weights, boxing ball and other weight station machines. Bring along your iPod and motivate your workout with music played over the Bose sound system. The gym has its own bathroom facilities attached.

The Yoga room exudes serenity and peace. Equipped with mats and bolsters, furnished with intriguing Asian artefacts, and with the option of ceiling fans to cool the air, this handsome timber-floored space is ideal for yoga practice, meditation and deep relaxation.

Wedding
Villa Malaathina is an ideal setting for special celebrations. The villa is perfectly suited to beautiful garden weddings; the Teppanyaki pavilion is a fabulous spot to have a dinner with a difference, and sunset views don't get any better than from the rooftop terrace ? the ideal location for cocktails and canapés.

We can recommend expert event organisers, florists, decorators and caterers so you can focus on relaxing and celebrating with your guests.
