Overview
The layout of our four separate bedroom pavilions has been conceived to maximise proximity to nature, and facilitate friends or family interaction in the social spaces.
Designed by Bali-based Australian architect John Lincoln - renowned for his work on the Four Seasons resort Hotel Jimbaran, the Westin Hotel Nusa Dua, as well as a number of five star hotels and private villas in and around Bali - The Anandita villa was built with a vision to create an oasis of peace and natural harmony and provides you with the opportunity to reunite body and soul with the environment as well as socialise with friends or family.
The large open living areas, tall vaulted ceilings and the overflowing lotus pond by the dining pavilion provide a great sense of space and freedom. From the balé, dining room and every pavilion, one can hear the sound of birdsong, the waves slowly rolling onto the beach and the wind gently caressing the palm leaves. Built with precious woods from Kalimantan, white Palimanan stone from Bali and locally crafted terrazzo, The Anandita uses noble natural materials for a modern, yet highly classic luxurious architecture.
On waking each morning, and opening the curtains of your private bedroom pavilion, the pool and beach are simultaneously revealed over the lush green lawn. Our manicured grounds, conceived by landscape designer Malcolm Williams, boast frangipani, pink and orange bougainvillea, as well as flamboyant trees whose striking red flowers bloom once a year.
The lightly salted free-form pool, built with large natural indigo and earthy-toned stones imported from India, blends with its surroundings and confers a river-like feeling. Antique primitive art sculptures from Sumba and wooden totems from Irian Jaya dot the gardens with a sense of mystery.
Staying at The Anandita offers a level of privacy that is difficult to find anywhere else. The one and a half hectares of ocean-facing land, and the white-sand beach that fringes it, are all yours
Accommodation
The Anandita is approached by a private driveway, which leads into a secure parking area. A grand porte cochere, bordered by a lily pond, heralds the entrance to the villa's main pavilion via a pair of impressive wooden doors. From here, a colonnaded walkway sheltered by a glass-roofed pergola leads over the lily pond to the kitchen and the dining pavilion. The four standalone sleeping pavilions are positioned in the garden, well away from the main pavilion.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The Anandita's four bedrooms are housed in individual pavilions which are arranged in pairs but spaced well apart for privacy. Although the pavilions are similar, each is styled with its own bold colour scheme and artwork, complemented by a dressing area and a sumptuous ensuite bathroom. A pair of Anandita's signature orange sunbeds and a matching umbrella offer peaceful spots for relaxation in front of each pavilion.
Bedroom 1
Flaunting a dark blue colour scheme, bedroom 1 is furnished with a king-size bed, and is blessed with views of the garden and the sea beyond. The ensuite bathroom has a standing monsoon shower and the additional luxury of an oversized soaking tub. Please note this is the only bedroom without the provision of a DVD player.
Bedroom 2
Bedroom 2 is furnished with a king-size bed accented with bright orange cushions and equipped with a DVD player. Glass walls on three sides offer delightful views of the garden and the sea. The semi-open-air ensuite bathroom is fitted with a standing monsoon shower and the additional luxury of an oversized soaking tub.
Bedroom 3
Bedroom 3 is furnished with a king-size bed, equipped with a DVD player and blessed with views of the garden and the sea beyond. This room's ensuite is fitted with a standing monsoon shower.
Bedroom 4
Deep red Bedroom 4 is the smallest of the sleeping pavilions, but it is nevertheless furnished with a king-size bed angled to face the sea and equipped with a DVD player. The charming open-air bathroom is fitted with a bathtub and monsoon shower.
Living & Dining Areas
Indoor living
The expansive, fan-cooled living room at The Anandita has a high roof and presents three distinct, yet integrated areas. The central section is distinguished with a Palimanan frieze featuring carvings of birds, frogs, dragonflies, leaves and flowers, and flanking a stone floor that extends directly onto the pool deck through wide, folding glass doors. This area is furnished with two comfortable sofas strewn with playfully coloured scatter cushions, a chair and a rustic coffee table. The remainder of the room is slightly elevated with a polished wood floor that extends around the central sitting area in a U-shape. On one side is a more formal sitting area with segmented upholstered sofas, chairs and a flat screen TV-DVD player. The third area presents a billiard table, desk, bookshelves and guest washroom.
The Anandita's splendid dining pavilion is open on four sides under a soaring roof. Cooled by ceiling fans, the dining area is screened from the guest kitchen by attractive fretwork timber panels; one of the walls is graced with a collage featuring Thai elephants, while a Buddha's-head statue guards the opposite side. Here, guests will be serenaded by the sounds of water-in-motion, charmed by the sight of dragonflies hovering around the fishpond, and captivated by the gorgeous views. A grand dining table for 12 takes centre stage in the pavilion with views through rows of coconut palms in the garden and onwards to the beach and ocean.
The front section of Anandita's modern kitchen is well equipped for guest use, with a fridge, coffee machine and plenty of quality tableware and glassware. It also features a built-in breakfast bar furnished with ten chairs. The main staff kitchen is hidden behind a screen wall and is fully equipped with everything that the cook needs to prepare delicious meals.
Outdoor living
The Anandita boasts a multi-tiered pool deck crafted in both Palimanan stone and timber boards. Here, three tall coconut trees and two frangipani trees offer dappled shade. The main level is furnished with two wooden tables and chairs, each offering a place for casual dining or socialising. An elevated timber deck is furnished with two sunbeds and an umbrella for daytime lounging, plus a table and chairs for a romantic candlelit dinner. Meanwhile, four wide stone steps lead down to another timber deck at pool level, offering more sunbeds and umbrellas. The free-form swimming pool is evocative of a jungle glade with a whirlpool hidden within a circular section. Like a small lagoon, the water wends its way through the garden, bordered by flowering shrubs and trees, river boulders and bushy palms.
The huge manicured lawn stretches all the way down to the beach, a volleyball court is positioned between the palm trees, and a line of sunbeds and umbrellas rest beside the white-sand beach. Elevated just above the beach is a large balé (relaxation pavilion), complete with a telephone for summoning refreshments. This is a great spot for a massage and perfect for contemplating Lombok's mysterious Mount Rinjani and watching the sunset over Bali's Mount Agung. There is also a table here for casual lunches or romantic dinners. The beach is lapped by clear waters, shallow and safe for swimming.

Activities
As a former sports coach, our villa manager loves to organise games, sports and activities in and around the villa. He is also a great source of information about nearby places of interest and will arrange transport and bookings for external activities as required. Your stay at The Anandita provides a unique opportunity for you to enjoy our location at the tip of the Sira peninsula, looking across the sea towards Gili Air, and to explore the stunning island of Lombok with its many natural wonders, amazing traditions and cultures, and its warm welcoming people.
Here is a taste of the many and varied activities on offer within reach of the villa.
SPORTS & ADVENTURE
- Discover our amazing coral reef just in front of the villa. Around 200 metres from the shore, lies a beautiful and rich coral reef, home to orange and blue giant star fish, trumpet fish and an array of white, blue and red corals. One can swim or paddle out to the reef by kayak. The villa is equipped with snorkelling gear in a range of sizes for adults and children, as well as life jackets.
- Explore the bay with sea kayaks. Five kayaks (three two-seaters and two single seaters) are available. This is a great way to get to the nearby reef or explore the coast and secluded beaches around the bay.
- Go island hopping. Our villa manager can help you charter boats and take you island hopping around the Gilis for half or full day trips. The three, coral-finged Gili islands - Trawagan, Meno and Air, just off the Sira peninsula offer a truly laid-back island experience. We will also be glad to prepare picnics for your trip, or book you into a restaurant for a meal on the islands.
- Snorkel off the Gilis. Snorkelling tours of the reefs around the Gilis are also available upon request. These tours can take you to all or any of these three magical islands, where you can swim in crystal-clear waters amongst the two species of sea turtles that breed in the area.
- Or scuba dive at some world famous dive sites. A number of PADI approved dive schools are just a short boat ride away and our manager can arrange for the school of your choice to pick you up for diving classes. They cater to all levels, from beginners to advanced divers.
- Go fishing - day or night! Tuna, Spanish mackerel and barracuda abound in these warm tropical waters, making great fresh sashimi or barbecue feasts.
- Pump up the adrenaline with some wakeboarding or waterskiing from a speed boat around the bay.
- Volley ball is a daily tradition at The Anandita. The grass volley ball field sits under the shade of the tall palm trees, and members of staff will happily join to boost numbers if needed.
- Play a round of golf at the Lombok Golf Kosaido Country Club - a serene 18-hole championship course on Sira Bay with dramatic views of Mount Rinjani.

Additional Notes
Families
The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus - and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.The Anandita is a great villa for families; with its blissful beachfront location, huge coconut grove garden and magical free-form pool. Children of all ages will be well entertained. Kayaks, beachcombing, volleyball and cycling are just a few of the activities in store. The Anandita is equipped with table tennis, a billiards table, ball games, badminton sets, board games and pool toys.
The team of friendly staff at Anandita will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).
Although the equipped guest kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you - just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Pancakes by the pool for breakfast? Burgers in the beach balé for tea? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children's taste buds.
Don't worry about packing all that cumbersome kids' equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don't have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot, highchair, car seat and games) we can hire on your behalf.
And when the excitement of exploring the villa starts to wear off, check out our Things to do page; there's plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.

Western and Indonesian dishes feature on The Anandita's extensive suggestion menu and guests can look forward to some wonderful fresh fish and locally harvested Lombok produce. Our chef delights in preparing gourmet cuisine from all corners of the world, including Indonesian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, as well as European - in particular French and Italian. The health conscious will find a broad range of steamed vegetables and grilled fish, while our bar serves fresh tropical fruit juices or vitality mixed mocktails. Our chef prides himself on his attention to detail and the quality of his food and ingredients. Our red meat is imported from New Zealand, fish is locally procured and many of the wines served at the villa originate from France or Australia.
Throughout your stay, our staff will strive to help you create enduring memories by organising soirées to mark special occasions such as birthdays and parties. Such events can include your own fireworks from the beach, live bands and traditional dance performances. Our usual musicians include a pianist and two singers, who can entertain you with a variety of jazz and pop music. We can also arrange a traditional Sasak night, complete with Sasak food, a gamelan band and dancers.
Dinners can be enjoyed in our open-sided dining room, by the pool, on the lawn or even on the moonlit beach.
Menus are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but it is highly recommended that guests meet with the villa manager and cook at the start of their stay to discuss food likes and dislikes, special dietary needs and meal schedules. It is also necessary to discuss meals in advance (ideally 24 hours) to allow the cook the time required to prepare and provision as the villa is a long way from the nearest supermarket.
All food and beverage items are charged at cost price, plus an additional 20% handling fee (subject to prevailing service charge and government tax). Guests are requested to provide cash in advance; staff will then purchase the goods and keep receipts for reference. Costs are tallied up at the end of the stay, but can be checked on a day-to-day basis if preferred.
Spa
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of one of the bedrooms or in the beachside balé. Massage treatments are provided by an outside spa therapist from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here's a sample of what's on the menu:Massage
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet corresponding to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
Body scrub
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Manicure/pedicure
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
Wedding
A massive beachfront garden, combined with the breathtaking coastal views, makes The Anandita an ideal tropical setting for weddings, celebrations, barbecues and parties. We can recommend expert event organisers, florists, decorators and caterers so you can focus on relaxing and celebrating with your guests.
