When to visit Laamu
High season is from November to April but all year round the reefs feature very healthy hard corals, colorful reef fish, hawksbill and green turtles, reef sharks and eagle rays. Spinner and bottlenose dolphins are commonly spotted at sea during the dolphin cruise and from the resort. Divers and snorkelers can also encounter manta rays throughout the year.April to October
Surf season: Surf lessons and surf trips are available on a regular basis at our Surf Shop. Hosts are available at any time to book surf lessons or a surfing trip to the consistent waves of our famous Yin Yang break.
May to September
Turtle Nesting - Guests are informed that turtles might have their nests just around their villas. Each nest is properly protected by putting a net around it and a signboard for guest?s information.
July to October
Turtle Hatching - Once hatching is expected, guests are invited to watch the hatching event and they are informed by the Experiences Team of the hatching time, which is announced by our Marine Biologist, who is fully hands-on during this event.
How to get to Six Senses Laamu
Getting here is part of the fun. From Male International Airport (MLE) you'll be escorted to the domestic terminal lounge ready for the 35-minute flight to Laamu's Kadhdhoo Airport and a fascinating bird's-eye view of the beautiful Maldives Archipelago. Your GEM (Guest Experience Maker) arranges your 15-minute speedboat trip to the resort.Resort Transfers and Transfer Fee
Round-trip transfers between Male?s International Airport and the resort are by domestic commercial flight followed by a speed boat transfer to Six Senses Laamu. The rate is USD 590 + 23.2% tax and service charge per person. This will be arranged and booked by the resort upon making a reservation.
Is My Flight Direct?
On some occasions your flight may have a stop on route to drop off and pick up passengers at other domestic airports. We will endeavor to provide you with the most direct route, subject to availability and the required connecting time of your international flight, or onward transfer arrangements.
Baggage allowances
International business travelers: 88 pounds (40 kilograms), plus 11 pounds (5 kilograms) for hand luggage per person
International economy travelers: 66 pounds (30 kilograms), plus 11 pounds (5 kilograms) for hand luggage per person
Baggage exceeding these allowances will be subject to excess weight charges which will be advised by the airline. Passengers are also advised that over-sized carry-on hand luggage may not fit the overhead compartments of smaller airplanes and will be treated as check-in baggage.
If you are planning to bring oversized items such as surfboards, strollers, etc., please let us know well in advance so that we can confirm with the domestic handler that they can be carried on your flight due to baggage space limitations of some smaller airplanes. For example, the maximum length of a packed surfboard must not exceed 7 feet (213 centimeters) in length. You should also advise us and your travel advisor in advance if you plan to travel with excess baggage.
Combined Boat Transfers
The speedboat transfer from Six Senses Laamu is a combined boat transfer which means it is shared with other guests of the resort.
Alternatively, you may pay a supplement to travel by private charted transportation, in which case the boat will depart as soon as you are ready without delay.
If you wish to upgrade to a private transfer, please contact your Guest Experience Maker who will be happy to make the necessary arrangements subject to boat availability.
Restrictions
It is illegal to bring alcohol and pork into Maldives - they will be removed from your luggage before you enter the country. Guest are also prohibited to travel with dogs in the Maldive.

Baggage exceeding these allowances will be subject to excess weight charges which will be advised by the airline. Passengers are also advised that over-sized carry-on hand luggage may not fit the overhead compartments of smaller airplanes and will be treated as check-in baggage.
If you are planning to bring oversized items such as surfboards, strollers, etc., please let us know well in advance so that we can confirm with the domestic handler that they can be carried on your flight due to baggage space limitations of some smaller airplanes. For example, the maximum length of a packed surfboard must not exceed 7 feet (213 centimeters) in length. You should also advise us and your travel advisor in advance if you plan to travel with excess baggage.
Combined Boat Transfers
The speedboat transfer from Six Senses Laamu is a combined boat transfer which means it is shared with other guests of the resort.
Alternatively, you may pay a supplement to travel by private charted transportation, in which case the boat will depart as soon as you are ready without delay.
If you wish to upgrade to a private transfer, please contact your Guest Experience Maker who will be happy to make the necessary arrangements subject to boat availability.
Restrictions
It is illegal to bring alcohol and pork into Maldives - they will be removed from your luggage before you enter the country. Guest are also prohibited to travel with dogs in the Maldive.
