HuntingA
wide range of game, an immense and diverse landscape Hunting at
Murtoli, with its 2,500 hectares nestled between sea and mountains, is
not a matter of happenstance. Hunting here, as elsewhere in Corsica, is
an ancestral tradition, a culture centuries old, thriving and resting on
a set of principles that remain resolutely
unchanged. Modern
techniques of hunting, though adopted, have in no way replaced the
tried-and-true. To the great delight of our guests, established
traditions, rituals, safety measures and conviviality are scrupulously
respected. But the biggest surprise lies elsewhere. It is...the estate
itself !
With oak trees and water in
abundance, the wild boar is the reigning master at Murtoli. It is also a
unique species that all hunters owe themselves the experience of adding
to their bag. Come enjoy our wild boar driven hunts with scenthounds,
or stalking early in the season. The beat one in the morning, one in the
afternoon - is always a moment filled with emotion and conviviality.
A
variety of game that everyone will enjoy... partridges, pheasants,
hares, and quail make up the majority of small game at Murtoli. In
addition there are migratory birds, woodcocks, snipes, pigeons, and
ducks, depending on the time of year. The arrival of thrushes in
December is always a festive event. The diversity of small game permits a
variety of shooting techniques : pass-shooting ducks, partridges and
pheasants accompanied by pointers, or a driven shoot with pointer dogs
some of which are organized by the sea - a truly exceptional experience.
FishingFor
the most beautiful of the sea and fishes With 2,500 hectares on the
southern tip of Corsica, a river flowing through the estate, some 10
kilometers of coastline, cliffs and beaches... Murtoli is truly an
exceptional site for all types of fishing : offshore and inshore
trolling, deep sea fishing... and also river fishing.
Being
available, fishing Murtoli is available to guests staying, on time (in
days or half days), or as part of "fishing packages", a weekend or a
week .

A trout essentially!
Trout
"fario" of course, but also "macrostigma" endemic species, Corsican
iconic trout. One who, on leaving the water, marvels at its beauty plays
stained black dress and dramatic. Now under threat because of the
insidious degradation of rivers, it is still very much in Murtoli
throughout Ortolo where she thinks purity, secrecy and shadows necessary
for its development.
Beautifully lined with rocks, brambles and
alder, multiplying the passages in the undergrowth, lucky fishermen say
that this river that runs through the area. Makes you wonder if our

The
fragrances of the maquis, native hill plants, flowers along the country
paths, grasses, blue thistles, yellow everlastings, catnip and
greenbrier which colourfully express themselves with each flowering...

Murtoli is a
large open book of rare and preserved natural countryside. Read it with
Stéphane Rogliano, expert in Corsica's biotope, the real nose of the
maquis .

Strange
ochre granite rock formations in the shape of animals, grottos,
excavations eroded by the weather, the Ortolo Valley has a rich mineral
world, both fascinating and mysterious. The archeological sites of the
Castellu, itself a medieval site, the Pianu di U Grecu and the Cauria
Plateau with its megaliths. This is an exciting walk of discovery led
by Hélène Paolini Saez from the regional archeology laboratory, an
expert in prehistory.
- In the marine world. Immerse yourself in the big blue sea.
In
the bay, the clear sea reflects the sky. It is a mesmerising deep blue,
and is bounded by 8 kilometres of beaches. You will discover this
aquatic world
on board a 'pointu' , the traditional Mediterranean
wooden fishing boat, and sail around the deserted coves, or for the more
sporty type, in a sea kayak or a comfort kayak, measuring 5 to 15
metres with a skipper.
The horsesTo understand,
you must come to Murtoli, walk through the estate, see the horses
meander through the maquis or prance on the sandy stretch of the large
beach : the most beautiful spot in the world is perfectly suited to
welcome one of the most beautiful animal. Overcome by the emotions
evoked, the desire may arise to give horse riding a try, or perhaps try
it once again. Murtoli is the perfect place to do so : discover, renew
past skills, learn, work in the arena, improve... Spend each day on ever
longer, increasingly beautiful outings or progressively more
challenging rides.
Follow
wandering trails and paths to a traditional Corsican ranch cabin placed
in a dream-like valley, where donkeys await your gentle caresses and

Dining
In
the Domaine , you will enjoy the Estate's home-grown produce, and that
of the whole of Corsica and the surrounding sea. Veal and lamb from the
farm, fruits and vegetables from the kitchen garden, olive oil from the
mill, and freshly caught sea bream, dentex and urchins. A thousand and
one flavours to enjoy, accompanied by the fragrant herbs of the maquis.
The Grotto Table, in the cool season
A
magnificent natural cave which has been transformed into a spectacular
restaurant. Under the arched rock roof, a bar, a superb wine cellar and a
large fireplace add to your pleasurable dining experience. The candles
are lit and the flowers are arranged on the tables. The lamb is grilling
over the fire. The singers are in place. The festive meal may commence.
The Beach Table, in spring/summer
An ancient
fisherman's shack inspired the open-air restaurant. It is an enchanting
setting with tables, set between olive trees and mastic shrubs, the
shade and the sun, arranged on terraces descending to the bar and on the
beach. A convivial place to meet and catch up over a meal and to enjoy a
drink.
