Ski
If you're looking for guaranteed skiing every day of your holiday, a luxury ski chalet in Tignes is what you're after. The town's 1960s architecture is a bit love-it-or-hate-it but mid-century style fans will be right at home, and anyway, what it lacks in classic mountain village charm it makes up for in snow, snow and more snow! Tignes' altitude makes it snow-sure for most of the year, and the area boasts some of the skiing in Europe.

Tignes is divided into the main areas of Les Brévières, Le Lavachet, Le Lac and Val Claret, the latter being the highest part of the resort, and offers a wide range of ski options for the beginner up to the very experienced skier in each of these areas as well as being well linked to Val d'Isere to make the Espace Killey ski area.

In resort there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants to keep you occupied, as well as a bowling ally, cinema and sports centre with swimming pool to name but a few of the extra activities available. This is the beauty of Tignes, nobody will be left without something to do.

The highlight for serious snow bunnies is the Grande Motte glacier, which sits at an altitude of 3,656m and is accessed from Val Claret. Up here there are a variety of blue, red and black runs to suit all levels and those who just fancy a spot of lunch, can easily take the Funicular and dine at Le Panoramic.

The crowd in here are serious about their skiing. There's a party scene for sure, but make no mistake, the snow comes first in Tignes and you'll see a lot more early nights and early risers here, so get up with them if you want to enjoy the best of the mountains. After a day enjoying the thrills and spills of the Espace Killy, you'll be more than ready to retire to the fluffy duvets and plump pillows of your luxury chalet.

Additional Notes

Dining
Locally sourced and high-quality ingredients, an experienced and innovative chef, menus tailored to your exact requirements' food is as important to the staff at Chalet Balcon du Paradis as it is to you.

As you arrive, you'll be welcomed with a champagne reception.

Each morning, a delicious cooked breakfast is served alongside local yoghurt, mueslis, homemade bread and jams. Then after a morning's skiing, you'll find fresh coffee and tea, bread and jams and homemade cakes and savouries laid out waiting for you back at the chalet.

In the evenings, following canapés and champagne, you'll enjoy a three-course meal and then a local cheeseboard, all served with a carefully chosen selection of European house wines.

Eating and drinking
Many of the hardcore skiers around Tignes tend to think lunch is for wimps, but those with a more balanced approach to their holiday will not be left disappointed with a huge variety of options available both on an off the mountain.

We love Le Soli, on the mountain between Le Lac and Les Boisses, which serves Savoyard specialities with a peaceful view. Le Panormic sits at "the top of the world" and offers a range of dining options with (on good weather days) excellent views of the Glacier.

For après ski or evening , Le Loop is a good option and has a lovely sun terrace you can ski onto and a log fire in its bar area. And Grizzly's Bar in Val Claret is a warm and cosy stop for après, decked out in furs and hand carved wooden furniture.

Also worth a mention is Couloir Bar, which as well as offering cocktails for a lively après ski session with live music, also has a restaurant serving a menu of French /English fusion dishes.

If the chef in your luxury chalet has a night off, Le Table en Montagne won't disappoint for dinner. This restaurant within the 5* Les Suites du Névada in Val Claret, offers discreet service and offers contemporary Savoyard cuisine. Meat and fish are cooked on hot stones and brought to your table to be carved before you and fresh bread and vegetables and dessert will be brought to the table to be served.

L' Armailly Restaurant in Tignes Les Brévières is a good option for lunch or dinner. With a sun terrace, wine cellar and traditional French food, you will not be disappointed. A Pizza delivery service is also available within Les Brevieres if you fancy a night in on the chef's night off.

Also popular is La Ferme des 3 Capucines in Le Lavachet. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and serves well executed simple dishes. In addition to the the popular dishes of Fondu, Raclette, the menu is changeable and presented on large black boards to each table, there is also a log fire in the corner of the restaurant which adds to the cosy alpine charm. Booking in advance is recommended!

Children
Chalet Balcon du Paradis's location right next to the slopes makes this property a good choice for those with children.

Your chef will be happy to prepare special teas for younger visitors, and to make packing easier for those travelling with a baby, cots and highchairs are available, too.

Nannies and babysitters can be booked on request to allow you to enjoy some adult-only time, too.

Chalet Balcon du Paradis can be taken alongside Chalet Altitude to create an alpine residence sleeping 20 people or the chalets can be taken separately. The two chalets can connect through the kitchens.
