Overview

Sueño Azul, which opened in the summer of 2015 in Menorca, is a new luxury full-service bespoke villa. Situated in a 250-acre estate in the countryside just outside Sant Climent.

Accommodation

Sueño Azul is the culmination of many years of meticulous renovation of an old Menorcan farmhouse with exceptional attention to detail. Sueño Azul sleeps up to 22 guests in 11 en-suite bedrooms, and has breath-taking 180° sea views with Mallorca on the horizon.

Sueño Azul includes seven bedrooms in the main house and another four bedrooms in the adjoining  guesthouse, sleeping up to 22 guests. With its neutral décor and elegant furnishings inspired by the Mediterranean, our villa is the epitome of refined luxury with a focus on sumptuous beds and linen.

All of these Guesthouse rooms are on ground level, one of which has wheelchair access. Cots can be organised for children. The property is fully air-conditioned and has under floor heating for the cooler months. There is Wi-Fi in all rooms and all outside catered areas. Sueño Azul  uses The White Company linen, towels, bathrobes and candles. The bathroom amenities are by L'Occitane and the televisions are Samsung 48' High Definition LED.

Sueño Azul has its own private concierge service dedicated to taking care of guests every need including planning activities such as yacht charters, beach picnics, guided walking and cycling tours, and wine and gin tastings, to name just a few. A member of staff will be on-site 24/7. The team includes a House Manager, an Assistant Manager, an Events Coordinator, a Chef, a Butler, Hostesses and Housemaids.

History and Heritage in Menorca
Monte Toro
El Toro is Menorca's highest mountain at 354 metres above sea level, roughly a third of the height of England's highest Scafell Pike. Located in the middle of the island just out the town of Es Mercadal.

Menorca Gin Distillery
The distillery is located at Mahon's Port and the factory shop can be visited, where you can still see the original copper stills used in the distillery process. You can also buy numerous gin related souvenirs include t-shirts, perfume, and homeware.

Fishermens Village
Binibeca Vell is located in muncipiality of Sant Lluis just 5-6 miles from Mahon and lies on the south east coast. Binibeca Vell is the most western area of Binibeca, with Binibeca Nou and Cala Torret to the east.

Cala Coves
A small-pebbled beach found on the south coast of Menorca that offers excellent snorkeling and diving. Although Cala Coves is more of a tourist attraction due to the steep rocky cliffs that contain more than 100 burial caves cut into the limestone.
The caves date back to the pre-talaiotic period and some of which can be explored on foot. There are no facilities here so come with plenty of water and a picnic. The Romans used this as the first harbour in Menorca.

Trepuco
Trepucó is a talayotic settlement situated southwest of Es Castell, on the road to Sant Lluis, Trepucó contains the largest and best-preserved taula in the Balearics. It includes stone buildings and defence towers.

Naveta Des Tudons
The naveta is located 10 km from Ciutadella on the main NE-1 road to Mahon. The naveta is the most important historical/symbolic monument in Menorca. Built approximately 3000 years ago the naveta was a burial monument used to bury the dead.

Torre d'en Galmes
Torre d'en Galmés or (Tore d'en Gaumes) is a Talayotic settlement situated in the south of Menorca. Its situated between Alaior and Son Bou, approximately 5-6km from the holiday resort of Son Bou.

Torralba den Salort
This settlement has an impressive standing taula reaching to 5 metres in height as well as two outstanding talayots, caves and building remains. Relics from this settlement can be found in the Museum of Menorca.

Talati de Dalt
The prehistoric settlement of Talati de Dalt is located 4 km from Mahon on the Min NE-1 road to Ciutadella. It?s one of the best Talaiotic sites in Menorca. A large unusual leaning taula, talayota and other prehistoric remains make is one Menorca?s most popular.

Cova d'en Xoroi
Sa Cova d`en Xoroi is in the south coast resort of Cala en Porter. Cova d'en Xoroi used to be a prehistoric dwelling but has been made into a stunning tourist attraction and bar during the day and lively and stylish night club at night.

Cathedral Basilica of Ciutadella
The cathedral Basilica of Menorca located in Ciutadella is well worth a visit. Built in 1362 on the orders of King Alfonso III of Aragon after the conquest of Menorca in 1287.

Son Bou Roman Basilicas
The Roman Basilicas at Son Bou is located on the eastern end of the beach.

S'Hostal Quarries - Lithica
The S'Hostal quarries are situated just 1km East of Cuitadella. They are a spectular sanstone quarry that closed back in 1994 the association Lithica took over the quarry to prevent it from becoming another land fill area.

Son Catlar
Son Catlar is a prehistoric town built in the talayotic period between 100BC and 300BC. It has a spectacular defence wall stretching 900m and contains 6 turrets and a bastion. Within the wall there are 5 talayots and the remains of Taula as well as other buildings.

Necropolis Caves
Known as the Necropolis meaning "city of the dead", the Cala Morell caves consists of 14 man made caves. The caves date back to the pretalayótic period until the IIC AD times and were used as a burial ground.

Santa Agueda Castle
The castle of Santa Agueda is located on Menorca's third highest point at 264m above sea level. Built by the Arabs as a safehold from danger in approximately 1232 it was the last standpoint before later being destroyed by King Peter IV of Aragon. The walk to the castle ruins and outer wall takes 45minutes via a roman road from Ferreries. Good views at the top of Menorca's northern coastline.

Es Moli de Dalt
The Es Molí de Dalt windmill is situated on the northern side of the town of Sant Lluis and dates back to 1762.

Cycling and Mountain Biking
With a rugged spectacular coastline with purpose built mountain bike trails and a range of inland cycling routes, you can explore the islands stunning scenery, friendly people and biking challenges for all the family.
The Cami de Cavalls is an ancient path around the coast of Menorca and is ideal for mountain biking with routes suitable for all levels of experiencea and ages.

Golf
Situated in the north of the island, Golf Son Parc is a fine 18-hole golf course and is guaranteed to give you a challenging golfing experience and some amazing scenic holes.
Menorca's only golf course is situated in the north of the island just outside the resort of Son Parc. The course has been developed carefully by golf designer Dave Thomas taking into account the local surrounding of pine woods and and has carefully with its surroundings of hill side pine woods and wetlands.

Horse Riding

Walking and Hiking
Cami de Cavalls
The ancient Cami de Cavalls path is split into 20 sections ranging between 5 and 14 km. The sections are perfect for those after a short walk on a single section or those wanting a longer walk that combines numerous sections.

  • S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park
Located in the North East of Menorca the S'Albufera des Grau natural park covers an area of approximately 5000 hectares and includes 5 small inlets just off the coast. This protected nature reserve includes vastly diverse habitats including wetlands, agricultural and livestock areas, forests, a coastline of cliffs and beaches, islets and a marine area. There are three wonderful walks on offer.

  • Algendar Gorge
Another great location for a walk is the spectacular limestone ravine carved out over thousands of years by waterflow. The Algendar gorge (Barranc d'Algendar) is located on the south coast and reaches the sea at Cala Galdana. The gorge has high limestone cliffs and small stream runs through the valley floor and takes approximately 45 minutes to walk each way.

  • San Agueda Castle
San Agueda Castle is located in the municipality of Ferreries and is Menorca's third highest point on the island sitting 264 metre above sea level. Dating back to 1232 the castle in 1287 was invaded by King Alfonso III of Aragon and now lies in ruins. The walk to the castle takes around 45 minutes and has wonderful views across the rural countryside of North East Menorca.

Shopping
There is a real mix of shopping options in Menorca. There's the normal tourist shops in the main resorts selling everything from post cards to beach inflatables to sunglasses and local souvenirs and then there's also a good mix of smaller boutiques selling tasteful hand-made produce in the islands main towns of Ciutadella and Mahon.
Cuitadella in particular, is a fascinating place to peruse the stores with lots of history and narrow side streets to keep you entertained.

Mahon, the capital has a great range of shops, everything from high-end designer stores to typical tourist shops with plenty of cafes, bar and restaurants in between. Mahon harbour is a great place to peruse numerous smaller boutiques before or after dining in one of the many restaurants situated here.

Menorca is also well known for its wonderful markets selling locally made leather goods, food, jewerelly, clothing, soaps and souvenirs. There are more regular markets in Menorca's main towns as well as smaller markets in the bigger resorts. There are food markets that are well worth a visit such as Mahon's Fish Market.
Also well worth a visit in the factory shop for the famous designer footwear brand of Jaime Mascaró and Pretty Ballerinas, a brand loved by the famous such as Angelina Jolie, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss and Queen Sofia of Spain, to name a few.

Scuba diving in Menorca is a fantastic water sports activity and a great way to explore the underwater caverns, marine life and its wrecks.
Menorca offers over 45 wonderful dive sites cont. You can choose from shallow dives, caves, wrecks and deep dives, all with crystal clear water and amazing visibility and light. Some notable examples include the 105m long French owned Cargo steamer called the Malakoff Wreck that can be explored for those experienced divers and then there's the cave system at Pont d'En Gil, a 220m long cavern filled with stalagmites, stalactites and cascades.

At the heart of Sueño Azul  will be inspirational Mediterranean cuisine; this is included in the offering and is prepared by our highly experienced and professionally-trained chefs. All the ingredients will be of the highest quality, locally sourced, where possible, and skillfully prepared and presented. There will be a selection of fine local and world wines and spirits on offer, as well as wine from the neighbouring Sa Forana Estate incorporating grapes from Sueño Azul's own vineyard.

Menorca Gin Xoriguer
Menorca is famous for its Xoriguer Gin, its distinctively aromatic flavours are made of grape wine and flavoured with imported juniper berries from mainland space. The actual Gin Distillery at Mahon?s Port dates back the 18th century when it was constructed in order to keep the British Fleet happy.

Menorca Mahon Cheese (Queso de Menorca)
Mahon cheese is made on the island with cow's milk and is a soft to hard white cheese. Alaior is the main production area with Coinga, Dalrit and Cardona factories situated there. In 1985 it was given it's own Denomination of Origin.

Caldereta de Langosta
Traditionally prepared for Menorca fisherman Caldereta de Langosta is a Lobster stew and an island speciality. Ensaimada
Ensaimada is a traditional Menorca pastry. It's a spiral shaped pastry made with flour, sugar and animal fat. It's officially named Ensaimadas de Mallorca that is famous worldwide.

Menorquina ice cream
Named after Menorca, Menorquina is the islands ice cream manufacturer.

Markets
Menorca markets are an excellent shopping experience, whether you're shopping for art, crafts, clothes, jewellery, leather goods or local handmade produce there an ideal way to spend a few hours.
Menorca's indoor market in Mahon is known for its selection of fresh meats, fruit and vegetable, whilst the fish market nearby is friendly and vibrant market with many varieties of fresh fish, cheese and local hams.

Getting here
By plane
A quick and easy to destination reach, with européen capitale airports flying scheduled flights to Menorca's capital Mahon.
Mahon airport is where all the air traffic arrives from, its located on the East side of the island.

From Mahon airport you are just 15 minutes away from Mahon city centre by taxi or alternatively 20 minutes by bus to the main bus station in Mahon.

By ferry
There are also several ferry companies that link mainland spain and Menorca.

Acciona-Trasmediterránea
Acciona-Trasmediterránea operates ferries from Barcelona (Spain) to Menorca as well as Valencia. A journey from Barcelona (Spain) takes around 9hrs, from Valencia (Spain) it takes around 14hrs and from Palma (Majorca) it takes around 5hrs. Baleària operates ferries to Menorca from Alcudia (Majorca) and Barcelona (Spain). They operate super fast ferries and normal ferries. Journeys from Majorca can range from 1hr by super fast ferry to 3.45hrs by normal ferry. Journeys from Barcelona can range from 4hrs by super fast ferry to 8.30hrs by normal ferry.
