Situated between Il Dosso di Lavedo and the Comacine
Island, Villa Il Tesoro di Como is one of the most important historical
palaces on the shores of Lake Como. The history of Villa Il Tesoro di
Como can be traced back to mid 16th century and
is strongly linked to the noble Giovio family who used it as their
residence.
Accommodation
At the end of 16th century, the
villa was sold to Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, who redesigned the original
palazzo after the drawings of Pellegrino Tibaldi. A century later, in
1787, Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, politician and patron of the arts,
acquired the Villa. Enlarged and embellished, the Villa was used to host
a gallant and frivolous society where festivals, banquets and dances
followed one by another relentlessly.
Villa Il Tesoro di Como has recently been renovated by the famous French designer Jacques Garcia.
Occupying
over 2ha, it remains one of largest properties around Lake Como. Villa
also boasts the important historical details such as spectacular 17th
century frescoes by the Recchi Brothers and Agostino Silva.
The main entrance on the ground floor opens into the magnificent main
lobby with frescoes and spiral columns framing the arms of Galio and
representing the four busts of Strabo, Virgil, Pliny the Elder and Pliny
the Younger. Antique pieces, luxuriously upholstered seating, ornate
gilt-edged mirrors and crystal chandeliers furnish the sitting rooms,
library and dining area creating exquisite surroundings in which to
relax, socialise and dine. Doors open onto the "Winter Garden" terrace
overlooking the lake and giving access to the gardens and there is a
covered outdoor dining terrace with fireplace. The large, fully-equipped
kitchen is also on this level.
On the first floor, the lake view
gallery leads to the studio, the master suite and the guest suite
surrounds the Cathedral ceiling Central Salon. A further marble
staircase leads to the second floor accommodations, comprising
four luxurious bedrooms ensuite with their marble bathrooms,
overlooking the Cathedral ceiling Central Salon. All the rooms are
beautifully furnished with antiques. If further accommodation is
required there is an independent Villino for eight guests.
Villa Il Tesoro di Como is also an ideal venue for any kind of events, weddings and seminars.

In the first living room, guests have direct access to an indoor
swimming pool and study area. Upstairs is a second lobby and a gallery
which is flooded with natural light from three picture windows
overlooking the garden and the lake Como.

Situated
on the western shore of Lake Como, the palazzo resides in the town of
Ossuccio.The lake is particularly renowned for its generally mild and
moist climate which contributes to the lushness its shore line.
Moreover,
the lake offers a great environmental variety. In a few kilometres one
goes from the mountains to the lake, from alpine valleys to small hills.
The major international airports around are Milan-Malpensa (45 minutes drive) and Milan-Linate (70 minutes drive).
For
private aviation there are 3 options available: Lugano International
airport (40 minutes drive), Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate.
