Two Wheels and the Road Nothing
says Vietnam more than a bicycle or motorbike. These are the staple
methods of transport around the country and Con Dao is no exception.
Approximately five kilometers away is the main town, the market,
historical sites, beautiful scenery and friendly locals; why not join in
the bustle of everyday life while riding along the main road?
Con Dao Local Life Tour Discover
the island and find out what authentic Con Dao daily life is about.
Travel across the island with your guide, through the back roads, small
dwellings and local agricultural plots. Along the way you'll see Ben Dam
Harbor, Nhat Beach and Shark Cape, Van Son Tu Pagoda, the Shrine to
Lady Phi Yen and a local market. Your trip will culminate over a
traditional Vietnamese coffee.
Con Dao Historical Tour This
tour explores the rich history of Con Dao and will delve into its
darker side. A series of prison systems were constructed throughout the
113 years of colonization, during which time many thousands of prisoners
where interred here. Along the way you'll explore the Con Dao Museum,
Phu Hai Prison ? Bagne I, French Tiger Cage, American Tiger Cage and
Hang Duong Cemetery.
Sense of Respect Every night, a
pilgrimage occurs in Con Dao. Visitors to the island go to pay their
respects to the fallen heroes of Vietnam's struggle for independence,
that now lie peacefully at Hang Duong Cemetery. It stands not only as a
memorial to those who gave their lives, but also as a testament to the
will and strength of the Vietnamese people.
Hit the High Spots Listen
carefully and you will be able to distinguish between different types
of birds and cicadas. At the So Ray platform ? an old fruit plantation
site ? it is very common to see the Con Dao Long Tailed Macaque Monkey.
At a height of 853 feet (260 meters) above sea level, the old lookout is
also the perfect place for a panoramic view over Con Son Bay.
Up & Over Con Dao For
those who are more energetic, rather than stopping at the So Ray
platform we continue to hike deep into the jungle, surrounded by lianas
(climbing vines) and lush vegetation, through to the far side of Con
Son. This additional trail takes you where few others go. On the far
side you can relax in the clear waters off the peninsula between Ong Cau
and Ong Dung Bay.
Coastline Trekking to Dam Tre BayTrek
along the coast of Con Dao heading east towards Dam Tre Bay and then
paddle across Vong Bay with your guide. Spot sea birds, pass friendly
fisherman or simply enjoy the view.
Trekking to the LighthouseA
30-minute ride by speedboat brings you to the beautiful island of Bay
Canh where you can trek through the dense forest to Bay Canh Lighthouse,
build between 1883 and 1885. Enjoy the most amazing view and let your
eyes wander over the Con Dao archipelago and the South Sea. Have a rest
in the lovely garden surrounding the lighthouse and meet the keepers,
who are always delighted to receive guests.
GolfFeed the Fish Golf
While
we don't have the space for a full 18 holes, we do have a lot of ocean.
Using our EcoBioBalls® you are able to practice your swing and knock a
few into the water from the Elephant Mountain Platform. EcoBioBalls®
dissolve in 48 hours and the remains serve as fish food. For the least
disturbance to natural feeding habits, we limit the number of balls
played daily to a maximum of 60.
TurtleSea turtle incubation and research
We've
restored our beach to optimize egg laying for green turtles and
decrease the mortality rate of turtle hatchings. This ambitious project
in cooperation with Con Dao National Park authorities, included a safe
incubation enclosure to protect eggs from threats such as poaching.
Guests are encouraged to participate in ethical hatchling releases. If
lucky enough you will get to watch a mama sea turtle laying her eggs
right on the resort premise.
Our efforts also extend to conducting
training programs on sea turtle conservation for our hosts and in the
local community, with a vision to involve more marine scientists in
research projects on the future of the turtles around Con Dao.

Tai and Bay Canh or Cau islands to discover the underwater life
